I might be biased because I'm more of a Kamen Rider fan though. Like I thought Zenkaiger looked pretty awesome too.

Wonder what the American adaption of this will be called?

The quality of the Power Ranger shows have went way down over the years, seems like a lot of cheesy cgi is used.

As of now, there hasn't been an American adaptation for any season since Ryusoulger. It seems like Hasbro has been focusing more on original suits.

Certainly possible for them to circle back to it though

Looks very Kamen Rider-esque but since I love Rider more I'm all for it. Gives me Saber vibes

Oh, shows how long it's been since I've ever paid attention to it LOL. Are they still bringing back some of the OG rangers anymore into the new series?

There's supposed to be a reunion special featuring Billy, Zack, Rocky, Adam, Kat, Aisha and a new actress playing Trini's daughter.

There's also been a more concentrated effort to connect the seasons. Beast Morphers was lowkey a RPM sequel and had Jason return. And the newest season, Cosmic Fury, straight up has the same cast from Dino Fury like they did with MMPR/Zeo.

I was thinking it resembled Saber myself (whose suit designs I loved).

There's been a few Purple Rangers (most notably in Gekiranger, Kyuranger and Kyoryuger), but none have been part of the main team before.

Zyuranger and Koryuger are two sides of the same coin.

And I think Hasbro is giving up on a lot of good series that could be adapted. I can understand skipping Toqger, but they went back a decade to do Gobusters.

Not a fan of the armor aesthetic. Or any PR suits has it to be honest.

To be fair, it was a travesty when Gobusters got skipped over.

But I REALLY wanted to see a PR adaptation of Lupinranger vs Patranger

Looks fucking sick.

Really liked the swordfight choreagraphy in Ryusoulger so hopefully it's just as good here if they're making the weapons so prominent.

Mech looks rad too. Haven't been paying attention to the leaks but it looks like it might be just reds? Maybe they're doing the "red has the core mech and the other colors add on as armor" thing that they sometimes do.

Back in the day, that would just be an ultrazord.

This new Super Sentai will be directed by Kazuya Kamihoriuchi a veteran of multiple Kamen Rider projects. Writing the series is Minato Takano who wrote several special episodes for Kamen Rider Ex-Aid and Kamen Rider Zero-One. Former suit actor Jun Watanabe will serve as the series action director.

Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger officially begins on March 5 2023!

Ngl, I've only ever seen LuPat in full, but I may watch this one weekly. (I also want to watch Zenkaiger and Donbrothers)

.....buuuuuuuut if you ever were to dip your toes in, Kamen Rider tends to have the most serialized stories out of the major toku franchises. Legal streaming options are slim atm but Zero-One and Ryuki are both solid entry points, albeit from completely different eras.

Sentai is more episodic but usually has ongoing plots and character arcs it dips in and out of. Jetman would be the most streamlined. Dairanger rotates through several large sub-arcs across the series.

Ultraman is a different beast entirely but in terms of aesthetic and serialization, Nexus would be the show to beat...if it were actually streaming anywhere -_-;;;

King-Oh-ger, so it's King King Ranger? pretty stupid name if you ask me.
but then again, Japanese name for Ninja Steel also sounds stupid.

Main difference between Sentai/Rider and Ultraman is that Ultra usually leans more into sci-fi and kaiju tropes than superhero ones (though they're still present. He is ultimately a giant superhero). Often there's an emphasis on the non-powered science team/defense force investigating the monster of the week and trying to win before Ultraman shows up at the end for the big fight.

Starting around 2010 with Ginga the franchise started playing up the traditional superhero stuff more, but its kaiju roots are still prominent and influence the production, and has a different approach to action/effects than Toei's shows.
