Now it's the one where Homer joins the "Springfield Preppers," an off-the-grid survivalist group whose leader has set up a top-secret retreat outside of town to prepare for the end of the world, but Marge grows skeptical of the group's alarmist shenanigans.

Now it's the one where Mr. Burns raises the rate for electricity, to the point that many homes and businesses in Springfield can't afford to run appliances. While Homer takes to lugging a parking meter around to place near cars and make money, the financial crisis prompts the school district to hold a test to determine which school should be shut down. As the Springfield Elementary students prepare to be shipped to new schools, Lisa learns that there is the only one student who hasn't taken the test... Bart.

Now it's the one where a tornado leaves Homer and Marge thinking that, in case something befalls them, they need to pick out new guardians for the kids. At first considering Homer's half-brother Herb and Marge's sisters, they discover Bart and Lisa have been enamored of a cool couple named Mav and Portia, although Marge questions the actual motivations of the potential guardians.

Now it's the one where Bart's heart strings are pulled once again when Mary Spuckler returns to Springfield, but his failure to pay attention to her over his video games strains their relationship. Marge puts Homer in the doghouse too, and both of them end up getting kicked out of the house.

Now it's the one where Milhouse starts looking and sounding just like his dad after he and Bart have an "epoxy fight" and have to shave his hair to get it out, along with tying a tie around his neck in such a way that it deepens his voice. After dressing him up like Kirk, the boys use the striking resemblance to pull off various pranks and things they could only do with adult privileges. Meanwhile, Homer gets hooked on kid's hidden object books.

Now it's the one where the family finds out that Grandpa used to be an old-style wrestling heel by the name of Glamorous Godfrey, and Grandpa is convinced to take up the name once more thanks to the insistence of his only still-living fan, Mr. Burns. Bart starts to emulate Grandpa's ring personality, which worries Homer and Marge, but he joins Grandpa in the ring before they can do anything about it.

Now it's the one where Homer meets Ned's father, and they get along together much better than Homer does with Ned. When it becomes apparent that his dad prefers spending time with Homer instead of with him, Flanders snaps and finally punches Homer. Meanwhile, while Ms. Hoover is out with severe depression, Lisa's class gets a substitute, and Lisa can't figure out why the sub doesn't like her.

Why do the synopses of these episodes often sounds much better than they turn out to be?

Now it's the one where Bart is accused of ruining the town's Easter celebration by putting eggs in all the band instruments, turning them into egg-launchers that cover the crowd with goo. Bart maintains that he's innocent, and after seeing that Maggie thinks he is as well, Lisa decides to defend him in court to prove it. Meanwhile, after buying a load of comics from Comic Book Guy, Mr. Burns becomes the wildly ineffective hero known as Fruit Bat Man.

...My talent for summarization combined with the relatively common opinion that later seasons of the show are of low quality? Iunno. That's my guess.

Now it's the one where Homer is once again in the doghouse when Marge becomes fed up with his immature behavior, even in child-free situations. Desperate for any advice that will help him repair his marriage again, he seeks help from a sushi chef and Moe. Meanwhile, Milhouse manages to get Lisa interested in him by emulating Marlon Brando's character from A Streetcar Named Desire.

Now it's the one where Reverend Lovejoy gets replaced by a younger reverend who mixes pop culture references into his sermons, which everyone besides Ned enjoys. Homer is made a deacon and starts doing work around the church, to Bart's annoyance, so he and Ned try to get Lovejoy back, and they find him with a new job as a hot tub salesman. Meanwhile, Marge tries to find her wedding dress after it gets switched with one from Krusty's costume wardrobe.

Now it's the one where Homer, Marge, Carl and Lenny take Moe to Capitol City to cheer him up after his latest suicide attempt. While they're there, Moe gets a new suit that improves his confidence when he wears it, leading him to believe it's a lucky one. When he gets back to Springfield, he gives his bar a slight makeover and starts selling his homemade whiskey to new customers, who turn out to be venture capitalists interested in selling his whiskey on a larger market. Meanwhile, Bart takes care of Grandpa after he gets injured because of Bart's shenanigans, and Abe decides his grandson takes better care of him than the nursing home staff.

Now it's the one where Marge suggests that Bart take music lessons. They explore several options, and Bart chooses a Russian piano teacher named Zhenya, who he immediately develops a crush on. To help pay for the lessons, Marge agrees to be the driving instructor for Zhenya's father, Slava. Meanwhile, Homer finally loses his last two head hairs, and comes to terms with his baldness with the help of Patrick Stewart.

There is a low point in the series that that it has slowly started to climb back out of imo.

The Death Note parodies alone make this year's ToH probably the best one in over a decade.

Now it's the one where Homer, Moe, Lenny and Carl win $200,000 from a lottery ticket, but when they send Carl to collect it, he doesn't come back. When they find out that Carl ran away with the winnings to his home country of Iceland, the three follow him there to get it back, and find out that he wants to use the money to buy a missing page of Icelandic folklore that will clear his family's name.

Now it's the one where Marge stumbles upon a website for married women to arrange affairs (after mistaking it for a website dedicated to cupcakes) and meets a man named Ben, who falls for Marge after the two bond over a Downton Abbey-esque period drama. Meanwhile, Bart and Homer obtain a small-scale train from the closing Towne Centre at Springfield Glenne shopping center and continue to build up the train.

Now it's the one where Homer, Carl and Lenny go on a trip to a nuclear power convention, but while Carl and Lenny come back home the same as they left, Homer has changed. He has become an ardent pacifist, no longer eats meat, and drinks water instead of beer. Marge is suspicious, but decides she likes the new Homer after finding out he's much better in bed, so Lisa takes it upon herself to contact the FBI to help investigate what's going on.

Now it's Treehouse of Horror XXIV, with Homer as "The Fat in the Hat" taking Bart and Lisa on an adventure, Bart's head getting grafted onto Lisa's body after he's decapitated, and Homer, Marge, Moe and others as performers and freaks in an old-fashioned circus.

Now it's the one where four citizens of Springfield tell stories of things they regret. Homer regrets selling his Apple stock to buy a bowling ball, Marge blames Bart's rebellious nature on the music she listened to while pregnant, Mr. Burns regrets how an old relationship ended, and Kent Brockman regrets not taking a job as a cable news anchor.

Episode contains a tribute to the (at the time) recently deceased Marcia Wallace at the end.

Now it's the one where Homer falls into a depression when he realizes his life has been the same thing day in and day out for over 20 years, so Marge contacts his old pen pal from Spain, who arrives to lift him out of his depression by helping Homer accomplish a number of childhood dreams. Meanwhile, Lisa tries to stop the rampant cheating at Springfield Elementary by using the honor system.

Now it's the one where Homer gets stuck in an elevator with a pregnant woman who is going into labor, and helps deliver her baby, which she names Homer Jr. in his honor. Homer starts to bond with Jr. by giving him old baby stuff from home, buying him new baby stuff, and babysitting him, but Marge begins to grow suspicious as to where he keeps disappearing to. Meanwhile, Lisa organizes the Springfield Atoms football team cheerleaders to strike against The Rich Texan for higher pay after learning they only make $50 per game.

Now it's the one where Lisa, once again troubled by the fact that she has no friends, meets a girl named Isabel and hits it off. She turns out to be everything Lisa wants in a friend, including being her intellectual equal. But the fun is short-lived when it comes to light that they differ in one major way - Isabel is a staunch republican.

Now it's the one where Principal Skinner promises that the most well behaved student will get to ride in a submarine, so Bart tries to be a model student, including dressing in his Sunday best and getting A+s on his schoolwork. But when he slips up due to factors beyond his control and is not allowed on, he and Homer get back at Skinner by making him believe he killed his mother. Meanwhile, Krusty is strapped for cash, so Lisa helps him out by suggesting he sells foreign rights to his show.

Now it's the one where the nuclear power plant's emissions mix with particulates from the local tire fire, and make Springfield the only town in all of America that has any snowfall, thanks to global warming. Mayor Quimby declares the town a tourist destination, and when it becomes crowded with them, Marge opens up the Simpson house to boarders in order to make money for Christmas. Meanwhile, Lisa gets cheap but thoughtful gifts for her family, but is brought to tears when her family hates them.

Now it's the one where Homer gets fed up with the hassles and inconveniences that you have to deal with at the movie theater, and Bart shows him how to pirate films off the internet. He opens his own miniature theater in the backyard for the locals to go to, but when he tells Marge what he's doing, she sends a $12 check and a letter of apology to a the studio that produced the movie she watched. The studio head gets the letter, and after using it to snort cocaine through, alerts the FBI to hunt down and arrest Homer.

Now it's the one where Comic Book Guy meets and falls in love with a Japanese manga writer named Kumiko Nakamura, and she says yes to a date with him moments after they meet in his shop. Marge advises him to not be his normal toxic self, but it turns out that Kumiko likes him that way. But when her father Yutaka finds out that she's dating an obese loser, he forbids their relationship, and Homer takes it upon himself to try and fix the situation.

Now it's the one where Mr. Burns gives all of his employees augmented reality glasses with the intent of spying on them through linked monitors in his office. Homer uses them to the point that he won't take them off even during sex, causing Marge to insist he give them up. He does, but then Marge wears them herself, and Homer ends up seeing the things she does without him after he finds the monitors in Burns' office while looking for a new pair of glasses. Meanwhile, out of defiance toward the school forcing students to give a Valentine's Day card to everyone in their class, Bart stands up to Nelson by tearing his card apart in front of him.

Now it's the one where Bart is shunned by his classmates after degrading himself by offering to eat various things for $20, including a dead frog, which sent him to the hospital due to being full of formaldehyde. He ends up befriending a new transfer student who's part of the school's falconry club, and learns how to pull pranks by teaching the falcon to snatch people's belongings. Bart's new friend ends up getting sent to a mental hospital after jumping from a tree and trying to fly, leaving Bart to participate in an upcoming falconry contest on his own.

She's not just a one-episode character, either. She sticks around.

Now it's the one where Bart and Lisa find Sideshow Bob as the chief scientist at a company that produces genetically modified foodstuffs for consumers. He assures them that he's done with evil, and offers to take Lisa to a fine art museum so they can appreciate their mutual interest in it. Lisa finds out there that Bob has been splicing animal DNA into his own to gain various strengths, and he warns her that a side effect is that he can be tempted into a murderous rage very easily, which is exactly what happens when Bart shows up. Meanwhile, Marge tries to teach a teen abstinence group, but bites off more than she can chew.

Episode ends with a somber scene in remembrance of Marcia Wallace/Edna Krabappel, with Ned wearing a black armband, and Nelson tells him that he misses her too.

Now it's the one where Bart is inducted into the bullies group as an honorary bully after he sticks up for Nelson during class. That night, they abduct him from home and take him to the bully meeting spot at Krustyland, where bullies from other schools are also in attendance of a Bully Summit. But when the bully ringleader is shot with Bart's slingshot and their group is framed, they have to escape from all the other bully groups in a parody of The Warriors. Meanwhile, when Grandpa, Jasper Beardly, and Old Jewish Man are staying with the Simpsons, Homer starts to look and act like an elderly man while he hangs out with them.

Now it's the one where Lisa gets a pet guinea pig after campaigning to get a pet that's all her own, but it ends up getting into the walls of the house and destroying the painting in their living room. Homer buys a replacement painted from the Van Houten's yard sale for $20, but after Marge removes the frame to replace it, it's revealed that the painting is by a famous artist and worth up to $100,000. Milhouse overhears this and tells his parents, which ends up splitting the entire town into two groups of thought on who should rightfully own the painting.

Now it's the one where Lisa does a report on her hero, Marie Curie, for a school scholarship contest, but when Martin does his report on the same person before Lisa does, she changes the report to be about Homer at Bart's suggestion. Video of the report goes viral, and Homer is soon ask to be the referee at a World Cup game in Brazil, due to his moral fiber as a person meaning he won't accept bribes to fix the game. But when Bart tells Homer who Lisa's report was really about instead of him, Homer has second thoughts about taking said bribes.

Now it's the one where Lisa dates a boy named Lucas who wants to be a competitive eater. Marge becomes concerned that Lisa might be ruining her life by getting together with someone like Homer, and asks Homer to take her on a father-daughter dinner date and act like a gentleman, but the idea behind it hurts his feelings. Meanwhile, Bart helps Snake escape from Chief Wiggum and starts receiving stolen items from him as thank you gifts, making Milhouse jealous and suspicious.

Now it's the one where Homer dies of a heart attack because of his poor health, and at his funeral, Professor Frink reveals that he has cloned Homer. Marge asks the new one to take this second chance seriously, but his funeral ends up being the next day, when another clone is revealed. Over the next thirty years, Homer clones die in various ways one after another, until the last of Frink's stockpiled clones are gone. Homer's consciousness is put on a flash drive and uploaded to various screens. By this time, Bart is trying to get over his ex-wife and maintain a relationship with his sons, and Lisa is in a stagnant marriage with Milhouse while doing activism work for the rights of zombies.

Now it's the one where Bart uses a voodoo doll to try and get rid of his overly positive art teacher by giving her stomach problems, but she ends up pregnant instead. Other people hear about this and ask Bart to do the same for them in exchange for payment. All goes well until Homer and Bart are kidnapped by Fit-Fat Tony's goons and brought to him, where they find out he wants Bart to work his magic on his horses to produce new stallions.

Now it's the one where Homer wakes up to a world where everyone and everything is made of Lego pieces (except for Maggie, who is Duplo), and goes about his day. But he experiences flashes of reality here and there, which confuses and unnerves him. When the flashes get more frequent, he goes to Comic Book Guy to try and figure out what's going on.

Now it's the one where Marge swears off trying to make couple friends or friends in general after Homer embarrasses her at yet another adult get-together. But when Lisa expresses the same sentiment about not needing friends, Marge goes to the school to find out why her daughter doesn't have any, and learns that no one there likes Lisa's pushy attitude about her beliefs and opinions. Soon, a new girl introduces herself to Lisa, and they find a ton of mutual interests, but Bart becomes suspicious that there's something else going on there.

Now it's the one where Bart is plagued with guilty after winning the annual race around the school on the last day of the school year, because Milhouse would have won if not for Nelson's sabotage, and Bart could have done something about it but didn't. Meanwhile, Homer tries to get the 4th of July fireworks show back on after the city cancels it for financial reasons.

Now it's the one where Krusty retires after he's offended and hurt by the jokes made during his roast, and becomes even more depressed when his father dies just before he's able to answer the question of whether he thinks his son is funny or not. Bart tries to help by showing him some of his old shows, but the repetitive comedy just makes the clown feel worse. Meanwhile, Lisa becomes obsessed with keeping Homer safe from harm.

Now it's the one where Bart disrespects Homer's authority at the dinner table, bringing them to an endless stalemate where neither one can leave it. When Lisa tries to provide a way to end it, it leads to yet another fight between the two, and Marge finally has enough. She books the two for a sailing trip on "The Relation Ship" to force them into cooperation with each other, and they end up with several other antagonistic father-son teams. Meanwhile, Marge and Lisa are in charge of Homer's fantasy football team while he's away.

Now it's the one where Marge becomes a sandwich shop franchisee after her lunch sandwiches for Bart and Lisa replace cigarettes as the schoolyard currency. Business is poor at first due to the incompetent staff, but it picks up in a big way when she replaces the staff with her family, only to plummet back down when another store in the same franchise opens across the street.
