Or at least it seems that way to me. Obviously it's supposed to get harder as you go on, but it feels like it went into overdrive with the difficulty. Even with my high level/stats it just got super hard once you get to the Mountaintop of The Giants and on. I'm at Miquella's Haligtree and it's absolutely ridiculous and I'm not even at the boss which I've heard is insanely hard. It's just a bunch of tough enemies with cheap attacks that swarm you.

You need to max your hp. If you do that you can take a few hits from even the meanest bosses without dying

But yeah, difficulty spike in late game has been a pretty common observation since the game released.

it reminded me of a more manageable version of borderlands 2 post-game which I found very hard as a kid. i couldnt get past overpower level 1 on digistruck peak. then again i played that on ps3 at 30 fps w/ a controller so maybe itll be mangeable for me on pc.

Wait till you encounter the deathbird in the snowy region, that shit made me go insane even when I was level +200ish

I know about the ghost slugs, but I can't find some of them. Trying to get the Dragoncrest Greatshield talisman, but can't get far out of the sites of grace. It was a pain even just starting in this area.

Finally got to Malenia. Almost had her on my first try >-<. Had her concentrate on my leveled up mimic tear while I spammed my Moonveil attack (I don't do PVP so I'm not one of those types).

Haligtree is an optional superboss dungeon.

It is THE hardest zone in the game.

Your stats are more than fine for end game.
Keep you equip load under 70% so you can medium roll. If you're fat rolling, you're dead.

Yeah, it doesn't get any harder than the Haligtree area. It be brutal in a lot of places.

I was around level 130 when I went through the Haligtree and just started running past enemies.

Malenia took me hours ;_;

Yeah I was pretty much done at the Mountaintop. Probably won't ever finish the game.

I kept hearing people say haligtree is hard but honestly wasn't for me. I had decent level and cheap weapons by then. +25 halberd with blood tax storm art melts everything and gives me life gain. Add the takers cameo or godskin cloth talismans plus healing incants and I'm never I danger of dying. Leveled up whips for the fuck of it and they are decent range and crowd control too.

Melenia is a bitch though and still one shots me when I get to her 2nd form

Whoa I thought I was overleveled at around 150 but you are 214 and mobs are still giving you trouble? That's kind of nuts man. Your points are spread out too much too and don't make any sense to me. What weapons are you using you have that much in str and dex?? Why do you have 30 mind when you barely have points in int or faith?? I barely hit 30 mind at 150 and I was running a faith build with a lot of fp use and even I thought that was overkill but you have 30 mind with barely any points in int or faith?? You have a lot of fp but no dmg. Makes no sense. I'd rather have low fp and have my spells actually do dmg while stacking more blue flasks. You need to respec .
Don't try to run int and faith hybrid unless for a very specific reason like briars of sin or something. You need to take out all those points out of one and put it in something else. You are doing like mid game level dmg with those wonky stats.

There's always a way to cheese your way out of this game.

I use the bird farm to level up. The random stats are from me wanting to use certain weapons earlier in my run. I'd level that stat up, use weapon for a while, then switch to a better down the road. I was basically leveling up so much to try to make up for me not being super great at dodging and stuff and for being completely new to these games.

I did a lot of co-op for Malenia, and every time the host watched the phase transition cutscene in its entirety, I told myself, "they're gonna get obliterated by that opening dive." I wasn't wrong very often.

I'm at Faram Azula or whatever and it completely stopped me from playing the game. One boss is so cheap and stupid that it really soured me on the whole game. Got 92 hours in it and just stopped dead.

If you guys want to GGEZ this game then get the FALLINGSTAR BEAST JAW weapon.

Re-allocate your character to use this weapon, up your vigor and magic and spam the ever fucking shit out of this weapon skill. It does good damage, it's ranged, spammable and it stumbles even the toughest bosses for you to get in even more hits.

There's a path you can take where you can go behind the tree spirits and the ballistas and that makes that area pretty easy since the tree spirits don't respawn you can kill the one at the gate by singling him out. At 50 faith and fire buff incant my black flame was doing 2k+ dmg to him charged at around lvl 145. You don't need a lot of fp, you just need your spells to do damage. You have way too many points in mind for having virtually nothing in int and faith this late in the game. Why have that much fp if your spells do weak sauce dmg?

The people saying faith build isn't good late game confusing me. Faith is awesome. Golden vow is amazing buff, flame grant me strength (buffs physical and fire) and black flame are amazing abilities

I just recently cleared mountain of the giants it wasn't so bad I was level 110 still using bloodhound fang with a strength build.

Killed the fire giant on my 3rd try I didn't find this area to difficult but I've been playing pretty slow since launch.

To be honest, I halfway don't know what I'm doing. I was just going for more FP. To be a bit fair to myself this is my first "Souls" game.

Dark World tendency Demon's Souls.

Yeah, I ended up just running past everything in the Haligtree. I had less trouble with Malenia (hemorrhage build with Rivers of Blood) than I did trying to deal with the enemies.

What level are the weapons you're using?
They should be max or near max in Haligtree.

Taking a +20/7 weapon (or lower) is a handicap you can't afford.

In haligtree I found it difficult to deal with groups of enemies while playing a bleed build and as an astrologer.

I switched to str build on my next character and powerstanced two of the colossal hammers and utilized the war of ash that does like +80% extra damage per single hit (can be done powerstanced too.if you unequip the right weapon first iirc). I was pounding all the haligtree enemies w/ jump attacks .

Lol, no. I completely cleaned house with the Blasphemous blade. It's special atk is insane alone, but with the Fire scorpion charm+shard of Alexander you will be erasing enemy's HP bars.

A insanely underrated weapon Also is the Envoy's Long Horn. It's special atk makes large bosses a joke. I tested it on the end game dragons, and managed to semi stun lock them until death.

Fair enough...but what sorcery or incantations are you using? Did you level up any staff or seals? In that case all those points in fp don't really matter

Ash spirits require FP as well. If he's using mimic tear he would need a fair bit.

Faith isn't garbage come the endgame, Holy damage is garbage come end game. Fire based faith builds are very stronk.

Moonveil and Uchigatana mainly, both leveled up with the latter having Flame of the Redmanes. I use those and other weapons for different situations. All maxed out or nearly maxed out.

I mainly leveled it up for weapon skills plus spirit ashes before I got mimic tear. I don't really use magic offensively in battles except rare situations.

Just to clarify, MT takes away health instead of magic, but I did level it up partly for spirit ashes I used before I got MT.

Blasphemous Blade build was the only way I could beat Elden Ring so far.

Ah forgot about that. Been using rats and jars for so long which don't cost fp . Either way if you aren't using faith or int you can put like at least 20 of those points in something else

Mimic uses HP I forgot, but most others use FP.
Most good ones use 70-150 FP from my recollection.

Not much point leveling Vigor passed level 40 soft cap because of the Flask healing cap. Late game dump stat is Strength, no matter what build you have.
