Consistent ones seem to be pretty rare. Most are just the typical asshole conservative who wants people to suffer for whatever messed up reason they come up with. They'll gladly take away any sort of benefits for children and mothers and let them starve because they see raising a child as punishment for being irresponsible and/or promiscuous.

Not like the average right winger cares about being consistent anyway. They're proud hypocrites who can twist any sort of justification for their hypocrisy. If they can't justify it, they just ignore it.

Pro life shouldn't be a term applied to anyone who wants abortion to be more restricted or illegal.

Pro life should be a good meaning thing for people that actually want people (anyone, everyone) to live and be able to thrive in life.

i mean yeah. the overlap between "i believe in the strongest possible restrictions and bans for abortion including fines, jail time, and execution for illegal abortions" and "that baby is now out of the womb so it's fucking on its own, i sure as shit dont want my tax dollars helping it pull its bootstraps up" is pretty heavy

the core tenant of conservatism is prioritization of the individual over the collective (ie selfishness). these people claim to be "pro life" because it allows them to feel righteous without it "costing" them anything.

• When they are born, you can forget about them, because they cease to be unborn. You can love the unborn and advocate for them without substantially challenging your own wealth, power, or privilege, without re-imagining social structures, apologizing, or making reparations to anyone.

They are, in short, the perfect people to love if you want to claim you love Jesus, but actually dislike people who breathe. Prisoners? Immigrants? The sick? The poor? Widows? Orphans? All the groups that are specifically mentioned in the Bible? They all get thrown under the bus for the unborn

This, there's a difference between prolifers who legitimately care about the life of the baby and increase the likely hood of the baby living a healthy life and those that just want to punish women. There should absolutely be a different term for these two different groups.
