Because she's like a Green Party politician in one of the major political parties. And anti-labor rights sentiments have infected US politics since the era of McCarthyism, as well as social conservatism being like a boulder picking up steam, so they're just trying to recycle the same shit as back then to make her look like a bad person. But turns out Green Party of USA platform is a lot more popular now than it was 20 years ago, so they really want to drag her through the mud to prevent any kind of growth in her ideology (and her gaining any other allies in the Democrat party).

anyone with half a brain knows how this is gonna go already. there is nothing there. it's going to amount to nothing. this is just repugnicans spinning their wheels now that they have a majority in the House, trying to bully around someone they don't like, and be wasteful with congressional funding while they're at it too so they can blame Biden for that.

Sounds like the start of the right wing smear campaign. To just get enough stories out there so they can point to them and go "See, she's corrupt and bad!" no matter what any of their sham investigations turn up.
