So basically, some guys truck got stolen and HE used the find my phone app. He brought the info to the police. They kicked an elderly ladys door in, broke her possessions, left property damage that allows criminals to break into her garage, and didnt find any of the stolen items. Then they left and told her to have a nice day, without paying to have the broken doors immediately fixed by a pro.

I think we are all tired of this. Youre not even safe in your own home. When I lived in Louisiana, the cops could claim that they smelled marijuana and it was perfectly legal to kick your door off the henges and search. Thankfully, this law was done away with.

I know a lot of you have open disdain for the police, but I honestly have disdain for anyone who seeks a position of power to abuse it. The police force is being militarized and the way that they choose to enforce the law is beyond unacceptable. You would think that after so many high profile incidents, they might modernize their protocol, but if anything they seem to have doubled down.

I dont know why shes suing the detective and not the entire force, or the entire city for that matter.

If this happened in another country this would be a human rights issues. But since it happened in the US to an old black lady...it is just fucking Tuesday.

This elderly woman was independent for 77 years and now she is afraid to live in her own home.

and it is possible that the stolen items could have been found if the victim and the detective drove around the 4 block area pinging.
