Questionmarktarius posted... It's all an extrapolation of a single point. i wasnt even gonna go there but goddamn, yea, maybe. i dont think so tho, we need at least one dimension, just like we need at least 2 states (0 and 1) to convey information at all. but we dont need any more than that. --- --- ... The Holographic Principle originally came out of String Theory. A string is a line so there's that. But honestly, I don't know. --- "But who prays for Satan? Who, in eighteen centuries, has had the common humanity to pray for the one sinner that needed it most?" -Mark Twain ... Copied to Clipboard!

i feel like, instinctively, it's gotta be a 1-dimensional structure at its core (the bedrock foundation of reality). underneath string theory, the fundamental structure should be just 1 and 0. anything can be encoded in it, and there is nothing simpler. even "base 1" isn't really base-1 its just a different way of representing base-2 (base-1 would be like hash marks counting the days on a prison wall, a line for every 1. but you need spaces between those lines to encode more than 1 thing. --- --- ... Robot2600 posted... underneath string theory, the fundamental structure should be just 1 and 0. IIRC String Theory originally came about because someone looked at the equation for the Standard Model and noticed it resembled the equation for describing the geometry of a ring. This was what prompted them to swap out 0-dimensional point particles for 1-dimensional rings or "strings". They also swapped out 1-dimensional world lines for 2-dimensional "world sheets". --- "But who prays for Satan?
