If Sweep 3 hadn't been used last contest, I'd have a hard time deciding which version to put here! I liked Sweep 2 a bit better, but also thought Sweep 3 would perform better (do check that one out!)

An Underlying Problem is great. Super catchy melody and just a fun composition overall. The brickwalled master is still an issue, but it's not a huge deal. Sweep! -Part 2- is a fun one too. I do think the trumpets are too bright though. Pretty close match, but I think the catchiness of An Underlying Problem wins out here.

Cat is one of the Minecraft songs in the set that I wasn't a huge fan of. It's ok, but it feels a bit too random to me. ElectriCITY is neat. I like the intro with the sampled vocal synths more than anything. Fairly easy vote here.

Roki has some great guitar work. And the vocals are pretty solid too. Catchy chorus too. Cooking Crystal Death has some neat production, but the melody is pretty weak. Not a bad song, but it's definitely weaker than Roki compositionally.

my brain kinda meshes together the last part of the topic title, so I end up reading it as "Alto's Odyssey and Meowth"

match 1 is 100% unfair. i hate having to vote against shallie but Shovel Knight had to roll my favorite track from the game by far...

Match 3 is also unfair just a slightly lower percent maybe 74%.

Shallie was good, but this was a easy vote for Shovel Knight regardless.

I thought I was gonna vote for Roki, as much as I'm not the biggest fan of Vocaloid voices and still thought this was one of the better songs I heard, until Cooking Crystal Death just kicked in and stole the vote ballot from me.

this is a piece of shovel knight music that has a way of sounding better than i remember. i thought, oh, this is probably my least favourite from the set, but now i'm doubting myself. (which says little bc i happily supported the set) this soundtrack is a prime example in using music to push forward the action of the gameplay. there's a certain rhythm to it, going from point a to b to c, etc. much different from the other lost city i know lol. meanwhile, i wasn't sure how to feel about this atelier track, until the song switches pace into something very "heroic". good "hype" music can be a weakness of mine. preference goes to shovel knight for being more consistently my thing.

minecraft continues to get a rough draw. yikes. cat is still pretty good, one of the better, more iconic songs in the soundtrack. feel good synths and an all around crunchy sound. so good. so nostalgic - and i didn't even grow up on this game. unfortunately, it goes up against what may be the best sim city song of all time?? not super confident about that label, but electricity is a really thrilling piece of music. i love it when the instruments are added a quarter of the way - halfway through, keeping this song from being repetitive and monotonous.

i never know what to think with vocaloid. sometimes the way the software is utilized poorly, and i do overall prefer "real" voices. but damn this is catchy as hell. some of the latter portions of the song lost me a little bit, but this is overall possibly the most fun song today. crystal death has a very strong intro. i like it when songs kind of prep you for the rest of the ride. i don't really have much to say about this one, but i also had fun with it.

Match 1 is super close and a lot tougher than I thought it would be. In fact, I didnt even think Id be voting for An Underlying Problem going into this match. My favorite version of Sweep is by far Part 3 followed by Part 1. If it was either of those parts, I wouldve voted for it. Really love that 6-note motif in An Underlying Problem, but the song as a whole is very cool.

Oops, dont have enough time to decide on the other matches because I didnt leave myself enough time after spending all that time thinking about the first match lol
