Our local liquor stores MAY, and may is a strong word, a couple of small company cans or for sale but never anything more than that.

Never really had the stuff. Is it a shelf life issue or something? Or just not that popular?

Because Mead is a person, and you can't sell people!

But really, its most likely cause its not that popular, supply and demand. Check larger liquor store maybe?

just not very popular in the US

Ive had luck finding it at BevMo and Total Wine but sometimes they might only have mead/white wine hybrids like Chaucers Mead. Its tasty but not really true mead.

A lot of places like that will sometimes let you request that they order products like that though.

If youre looking for a good quality mead without breaking the bank this stuff is my absolute favorite

This. The niche is growing, but it's still very much a hipster drink in many ways, falling well behind cider (which is growing, but still somewhat niche) in terms of overall popularity. There's a craft cidery here that occasionally does meads and cysers (a blend of cider and mead), so that might be something worth looking into, and you may be able to find some craft meaderies in your area, but mainstream liquor stores aren't likely to carry much, if any.

There's also the super-secret third option of making your own, which I did. If you've got a winemaking supply store in town, the equipment is all the same as is needed for wine, and they may sell or be able to order in a mead kit for you. Even if they can't, the kit is literally just a bucket of honey and some yeast and additives, and such stores will sell yeast and additives on their own. Buy some honey in bulk from somewhere (a 10 kg bucket made 23L, in my case, or 30 bottles), and you'd be good to go.
