Today is the final commissioning and as long as everything passes, I'll be able to use it permanently. They're supposed to be doing some kind of failover test to make sure everything works at some point soon.

It has been a little over 1 year and 7 months since I put the order in.

Is it true that you get money back for putting unused energy back into the grid?

Isnt it a Tesla roof? Does it look as normal/camouflaged as those promos made it seem like 4 years ago?

Yes, but in San Antonio it's at a much lower rate. Better than nothing, though. I think with CPS Energy I pay about 11 or 12 cents per kWh, but then if I use over 600kWh in a month, it's more expensive. Or something like that.

It is a Tesla roof. They had plans to do the normal-looking roof colors, but they canceled it. I think I remember one of the electricians saying that Elon Musk was saying the product was ready to go, but internally they knew it wasn't.

One reason I went with Tesla is because I can use the same app to manage my car and solar. The system will also recognize when there is no power from the grid and I can set it to only use a certain amount of the powerwall batteries to charge the car in that situation. There's also a storm watch feature where the system pays attention to weather reports in the area. If there is a storm coming or high winds, the system will automatically prioritize making sure the batteries are charged just in case the power goes out.

And yeah, I like the interface. I now have a better idea of how much power I'm using moment to moment and day to day, which is cool.

Also, in California, they've rolled out the virtual power plant system (I think that's what it's called) where home owners can choose to send power to the grid en masse during emergency events. I think I read that homes sent about 16mW of power to the grid in California recently.

Do you have the powerwall batteries?

They did the failover test. I'm on a conference call for work and I wouldn't have even noticed unless I just happened to be looking at my phone to see that the system went back to normal on-grid operation.

I now have permission to operate. It's about fucking time.

I live in Texas too and I pay nowhere near that much. Who is your provider? I'm sitting at 8 cents kwh.
