A Plagues Tale Requiem, Stray, and Horizon don't feel like they belong on this list tbh. Not that they're bad games, just no where near the same caliber as the rest.

Not sure about Xenoblade 3 tho cuz I still haven't beat Xenoblade 2 lol

God of War will win. It has recency bias on its side due to its release timing, and Geoff Keighley's hand picked journalist judges always close ranks super hard around the yearly Western AAA Cinematic Experience(tm) game, unless they have no other choice.

Elden ring isn't winning anything EXCEPT sympathy awards.

The judging is weighted 90% in favor of journalists, and journalists eat up games like God of War. Elden ring, easiest Soulsborne though it may be, is still too obtuse and uninviting to win GotY from these people.

Plus, again, recency bias. Which IS a factor. a big one. It's why all the Oscar bait movies always come out in December
