Even more confusing is that Kukui was still nervously flirting with his eventual wife into the second season of Sun and Moon, and yet she is pregnant by the end of the series and they have a baby by the middle of the first season of Adventures.

Exactly how I feel. That's such a blatant passage of time that it's weird that Ash is still considered to be 10 after that.

Also you know, the fact that if we count all the nights that pass across all the episodes I'm sure they've had at least a year pass. Heck, one Adventures episode has a week pass while they're searching for Jirachi.

The passage of time in the OG anime up to Ash leaving for Johto implies that it has been quite some time, unless he literally walked all over the Kanto region in like a week, but he had enough time to go out, make friends, catch several pokemon, have offscreen adventures, run into team rocket who had a new device every episode, etc... and that shit took MONTHS at the very least. Even enough to go back home and have a welcoming party.

I don't see how turning Ash 11 or 12 would be so bad. He's still a kid and within the age range of kids who love Pokemon. Haven't seen the show since I was a kid and I imagine it's still not that "deep", but him aging would go along well with his journey and could give him some depth.

The 4kids dub said that a year had passed since Ash had been in Viridian city, during the episode where he gets his 8th badge. This was changed from the Japanese script. There was also a party Ash had with Pikachu in the 3rd Pikachu movie (those mini episodes before the movie) and the 4kids dub once again changed it and had Ash say the party was to celebrate the anniversary of them meeting. 4kids butchered the dub to add in or change things. Don't even get me started on how the most important part of the first movie was cut to avoid making kids think the bad guy might actually have some justification for their anger.

I dont remember seeing a teaser for the next series. Unless you mean the fake image that was going around for a while.

They should just throw the old fans a bone and make Ash an adult with a conclusion to his story, and introduce a new child protag because kids don't give a shit, they'll still watch it

Um no there wasnt.

My prediction for this battle was a draw.

It was a cool battle. The animation and art was over the top, like a Dragon Ball Z fight.

I never kept up with the anime but watching this was still cathartic

That's actually how the original writer for the series, Takeshi Shudo, wanted to end the show, with an elderly Ash reflecting back on the adventures he had as a kid. However, at the time, Shudo believed that Pokemon was only going to last a few years at most, and he ended up leaving during the Johto years due to how formulaic and child-focused the series had gotten.

Now that Ash is the best trainer in the world I wonder if the next seasons will be with Ash setting up a new protagonist, catching Legendaries, or having a time skip to end his story.

There is a lot of interesting insight behind the thought process behind the Pokmon anime in his blog, he's mostly know for the Lugia fiasco because Lugia was voiced by a man in the movie but it's more than that if you read his blog. Sadly he passed away in 2010 but his blog is still up. I'd recommend using deepl for translation.

I feel like the anime remaining centered on Ash's journeys for 25 years has really hurt the series in the long run.

It WAS an Aipom that Ash caught in the advanced generation so that isn't especially surprising when Pokemon he released were already present.

He never even had it follow any attacks he told it to do, it followed them the same way that Meloetta followed them around for awhile. Meanwhile Larvitar DID obey his orders a few times as well as the Sun legendary and Naganettle or whatever.

This might actually be the end end. Apparently a rough translation of one of the next episodes is "Pokmon - I'm glad I chose you", which is a callback to the first ever episode: "Pokmon - I choose you"

actually knowing the Pokmon team. Theyll sunset Ash for a season or two then bring him back for Nostaliga and then have him lose to the first trainer

Takeshi Shudo intended the anime to be seen from the perspective of a boy growing up in his own fantasy world, the theme he had in mind were boyhood and nostalgia so the anime is written in seeing the world through the lens of a young child.
