I'm taking a geology class, and I'm finding out that this differs from source to source. I need it for my assignment but my professor is not getting back to me. Anyone have any idea what the definitive location for the Southwest is? I'm leaning towards what game and fish says, but it blows my mind a bit that there isn't an exact, uniform idea on what the southwest is considered to be.

any arbitrary classification is arbitrary. shouldn't be too surprising

I'd say West Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, and the parts of California Nevada and Utah that are part of the clusterfuck of deserts
