The period of time this was collected was between 2009 and 2016. Only ones I'm particularly embarrassed about are the K-ON ones.

Oh yeah, they did the Cowboy Bebop soundtrack. I would honestly recommend Gotta Knock a Little Harder from the movie, or What Planet Is This if you don't mind jazz.

The Cowboy Bebop OST is considered by some to be one of the best anime OSTs ever, and imo it's totally deserved. You know how you listen to a bit of incidental music from a show and it's just a couple of little flourishes and a bit of a payoff at the end to make it easy to loop together as a part of the background? Cowboy Bebop does have that, but it also has these awesome show-stopping vocal songs for some fights or like big story moments that take the entire show up by about 4 notches. The music is honestly so incredible.

This is Windows Media Player on Windows 7. I unearthed it for the first time in 6 years when I moved into my new place. Actually listening to music on it right now, some vocal song from an Evangelion album back in the day.

I did have a history with FrostWire and LimeWire, but this isn't that.

I got sick of Mr. Jones. Omaha is my favorite song from their debut, never gets old. There are some really good live cuts of Mr. Jones on this computer though, there's an arc in their performances where Adam Duritz doesn't like singing it and they perform more of a down tempo bummer version about how being famous sucks, and that ends in 2012 where the message of the song becomes "wanting to be famous is pretty dumb, but it's also a cool privilege and I embrace the good and bad of this situation".

I had a short Levon phase. Looking at Madman Across the Water, I'm actually not that interested in it - everything from Tumbleweed Connection to A Single Man is fire though, a few hiccups but a fucking incredible 7 year run. Then he put out that turd of a disco album.

I should also clarify, the yellow ratings were set by me and the blue ratings are assigned by the program based on how often I listen to the song vs how often I skip it. I had a Levon phase, but it's hardly my favorite.

You mean you listen to more than just really heavy obscure punk/metal music with antifascist leanings?

That's pretty cool honestly. My parents got rid of their vinyl years ago. Nowadays I mostly just collect CDs, that was a huge help when I was moving in with no wifi.

I don't think I have all of the Inuyasha OP/ED songs but I definitely have more than that. That being said, No More Words from the first movie is the best ED song they ever put out. It is my undisputed favorite.

Here's my Inuyasha collection:

Edit: the ED you posted is called Fukai Mori if you want to listen to the full thing

I got a whole section of my record collection that once belonged to my parents.

Stuff like The Beatles, Rolling Stones, CCR, Neil Young, Led Zeppelin etc.

I can do a list of good Counting Crows songs that aren't Mr. Jones.

It's not a bad song, I always love when it comes on the radio, but I've been around the block enough to have gotten sick of it and to have found other favorites. Like I said earlier, there's this whole arc to their live performances of Mr Jones from the initial melancholy and desire of the studio recording, to a more downcast version decrying the pursuit of fame as hollow and sad, to rebuilding the pedestal by acknowledging the negatives but accepting the responsibility of fame.

Actually yeah fuck it, I'll put together three different versions of Mr Jones. They're all different.

The original Mr. Jones, like you posted. Released in 1993.

https://youtu.be/1r8KIHZLn8w

Mr. Jones from the Across A Wire: Live From New York City live album. Released in 1998, two years after Recovering the Satellites and 5 years after August and Everything After. Satellites kind of flopped, the band went in a heavier direction. Adam Duritz, as his story would go, began to suffer from worse mental health issues. This is the period when he was dating movie stars like Courtney Cox, and despite his fame things seemed to be getting worse for Duritz

Mr. Jones had become something of an albatross around the band's neck ala Creep or Crocodile Rock. This was the beginning of the band messing around with their songs and restructuring them for live performance - this would become a staple of their live performances going forward, though in a much more chill, improvisational manner than the downer this reworking was. It was a reflection of Adam's/the band's disillusionment with what was essentially their one hit wonder.

So we skip forward another 14 years. This is a performance where they played the entirety of August and Everything After in a pair of concerts:

https://youtu.be/iNYW40v9D7Q

By this point, the band has been performing in their more improvisational style for a while. They had another big pop success with Hard Candy, they had cemented their country/folk influences in the release before that, This Desert Life, and that folky influence would define the rest of their career.

This performance is a reconstruction not only in theme, but in sound. Adam brings the fire - it doesn't sound like the original recording, it's hit and miss depending on how much you like their sound in general, but Adam is gunning it. Later CC recordings tend to have Adam's voice cracking, he really reaches the limit of what he can do, and it's hit and miss. He hits that point a couple times in this recording.

But from the original's "we all wanna be big, big stars, but we got different reasons for that" to Across the Wire's " we all wanna be big stars, but then we get second thoughts about that", the live recital of August and Everything After gives us "we wanna be big stars, but we get so fucked up about that" - said with more of a playful tone than the former. It's a journey from idealism to cynicism, and then to self-reflection and growth
