This is the first thing she says to you lol. Especially ghastly when 'the center of gossip' had already been revealed as the most severe victim of Kamoshida's abuse.

Then later the game tries hard to ship her with you by how she clings to Joker when she's scared like in Sojiro's house lol.

Maybe I'll feel differently on this second pass, but my first partial playthrough, I found her despicable, and I felt like her change of heart didn't really make up for how shitty she was. She just seemed like a bad person frankly

I largely agree with this sentiment. Just finished up Royal and I didn't get the hype for "best girl"

I think it was honestly her trying to live up to the expectations of her sister/the principal and enforcing justice in a cruel way (in addition to general apathy towards the situation which she appeared to take out on the PTs). I think she knows she's an intelligent person and she knows they're suspicious even though she doesn't have proof (yet) and she's just trying to intimidate a confession out of them. I think once she's in Kaneshiro's palace she kind of sees herself and knows that she doesn't have to live up to the ridiculous expectations set for her or live the way her sister wants her to. I think Sae's influence on her made her act that way (I feel like the way Sae treats her is fucking brutal in comparison to how she was treating the PTs) but once she realized she was wrong she kind of got more comfortable with everyone.

That's just how I saw it though.

she punches shit and has a motorcycle is probably my initial "best girl" reasoning. she also aesthetically matches the mc basically perfectly.

I mean, it shows how her home life and school life both contributed to why she acted why she did. I felt sorry for her, esp after that one scene where her sister basically calls her a waste of space or a burden or whatever it was, despite her only ever trying to do what her peers expected of her.

Was def some good development going forward, I'd say.

Her initial first impression was bad, but I didn't mind her so much once she was apart of the actual team.

I still think I preferred Ann more.

Yeahand the whole wheres Makoto sequence in town while shes spying. That was cute. Shes not bad, shes just under a lot of pressure. Once she makes friends, she loosens up.

Should have bought into the Kawakami = best girl hype. Though that's because she's probably the best confidant in the game and not because of her being a romance option (which feels too gross for me to pursue personally).
