Karla's stock for me absolutely nose dived in these past 2-3 episodes. No doubt she poisoned the Jury against Cass in pure butthurt.

Nope. Try again

Even if it was purely out of spite, I'd say it disqualifies Cassidy anyway, because she managed to burn someone she'd been in an alliance with since Day 1 so badly that Karla tried to turn the jury against her. Jesse didn't do that and his blindside of Cody was way more savage than that.

Here is the current high -> low of torch prices on the bidding, just to give a glimpse into the immediate fan reaction to this cast:
Gabler > Noelle > Jesse > Cassidy > Cody > Sami > Owen > Lindsay > Justine > James > Karla > Ryan > Jeanine > Elie > Nneka > Geo > Morriah > Dwight

Surprised Karla's so low. Lindsay's pretty high too, but I guess the torch of a triple threat would be in demand.

I kinda feel like Gabler is the Josh Martinez winner of Survivor - he was a volatile personality early on that nobody took seriously as a player, then went under the radar by latching onto stronger players, and ultimately made it to the end and despite everything, qualified his game and even got jury votes from people who previously had little/no respect for him.

Obviously the big difference is that Josh went up against a big polarizing player that half the jury worshipped and the other half despised, while Gabler's jury just kinda "meh"d his opponents.

Might be Lindsay herself vs. someone who really liked her.

Jeanine is low. Justine's only so high because she's hot. The top 5 are unsurprising.

At least Jeff seems excited for S44. Word on the street was that he and the rest of production were disappointed with S43 and I think the fans agree. The last time I remember distinctly hearing that Jeff and production were this unhappy with a season was Nicaragua, which also had ho-hum gameplay and a WTF winner.

S43 was blah, though I expect we'll see Noelle and Cody or Jesse again for sure. I wouldn't say the gameplay was "ho-hum" but the character arcs sure were. Nicaragua is a good comparison to some effect, but that season was sated with bad passive players (that made it hard to watch, since unlike Gabon they were passive) while S43 had good players, but only a select few truly great moves (courtesy of Jesse and Noelle) because most everything was "typical." I blame production for making the show the way it is now for why S43 was mostly boring.

I think production expected more from this cast but I think they needed a few recruits to get the gamebots to go haywire. It was instead standard fare and this unexciting. They need to change parts of the show to make them work again.

Pretty sure I've always said that I waited fewer recruits, but still enough to have a balance. Fans vs. clueless recruits is one aspect of diversity that people often forget about. I believe I've gone on record saying "throw in a few recruits for personality" or something to that effect.

Having nearly entire casts populated by recruits is bad (Cook Islands and One World come to mind). But all fans like this season is also bad.

Recruits are hit-or-miss. The most obvious case is Fiji, which was all recruits (barring Papa Smurf) and had a very top-heavy cast.

I feel like 29 was mostly recruits? No one on that season had any clue what they were doing. I remember judging it for that at the time because I wanted more game savvy players, but in retrospect it was one of the last seasons before the all-superfans era started to take over and I kinda miss it.

They could also use some applicants that aren't superfans but apply for other reasons, like, a friend tells them they should be on the show (Matthew von Erfelda), they think they're built for something like this (Joel Anderson), or even just to prove they can get cast (Willard).

I don't know why she needs to do that. Jesse is practically a lock to get an invite. As are Noelle and Cody. Karla is likely to be in the mix too.

On an individual basis, Vesi ended up being the best tribe this season.

Me too. One of the few to actually show some personality and the one to come up with a brilliant, innovative gambit using the vote steal to smokescreen the Knowledge Is Power. Her story is also inspiring - losing a leg and coming back and being a badass is awesome. And she's hot, despite what some people say about the leg.

She should have gotten at least something. But still, at least Sia made better choices than last season.

that's good to know because i think i've been spoiled on some winners (i mean there are some names i recall seeing mentioned though i tried to gloss over it) so if they're obvious then its not a spoiler

that's odd though because the first two seasons were totally unpredictable. i did hear the editing got worse and that they somehow continue to have characters with no screentime despite their extra-length episodes and seasons

the editing was mostly fine until champions vs. contenders 2, and then afterwards its gotten a lot worse. its gotten far more imbalanced and its apparently the network making the editing calls and not the showrunners.

in blood vs water the person who got voted out just before f3, who was a huge threat, was literally invis the first half of the season. something like 10/12 episodes with 0 confessionals or something ridiculous like that

but Aus survivor is notorious for giving 4th placers garbage edits for whatever reason
