about anything

I wasn't really sure howta structure the poll options. but im curious

and this could be about anything. sex, romance, adventure, wealth, fantasy, anything

and i aint talkin like, dreamin up a world youre writin or some such - im talkin daydreamin with you as the focus

i like to think about going on adventures, indiana jones or nathan drake style. exploring those untouched corners. fightin bad guys, racin em to the treasure

or my more grounded fantasies of bein a voice actor. even fer peanuts, aint no way i wouldnt be havin a good time doin that

what're some of the things ya fantasize about?

I used to daydream a lot, mostly about little stories and stuff in my head, but you said that doesn't count.

As for fantasies involving myself? I don't think I ever really did that. I used to do a thing where I'd listen to a song and imagine I was in the band. Outside of that, most of the time I was daydreaming it was completely fictitious stuff.

But yeah, I don't really daydream or fantasize much anymore.

I dunno, just a habit I dropped. When I used to play games I used to imagine what my character would be thinking at parts but I stopped that a long time ago too.

Just don't get as much as I used to out of it, I guess.

I feel like I exist in three different spaces at once: one performing all my mechanical daily tasks that takes very little mental overhead, another that is responsible for my communications with other humans, and a final one where I am elsewhere just living as innumerable and fantastic versions of myself.

I like to think about other people and imagine what their lives are like. For example today while driving to and from work I thought about how I must have passed 100,000 cars because I worked at a location about an hour away and I was on the tollway the whole time. Traffic would come to a standstill and I'd just sit and look in my rear view. One guy was shaved bald, looked middle aged, maybe Eastern European, driving a matte black Tesla X, and doing something on the touchscreen, probably calling his wife and asking what he should order and pick up for dinner seeing as it's getting late. Put together this imagined life I figured he lived, he had on a black button up and just assumed he had on grey slacks and black leather dress shoes, must work in one of these corporate office buildings that lined the last half mile of this strip of road. Probably lived in one of those multimillion dollar houses about 15 minutes east of here, just guessing that he has two or three kids, and the school they go to must be great and they play sports. What were his parents like? They must have instilled a good business ethic onto him because not only is his car much nicer than mine but he has this big silver watch on his hand that I see as he's gripping the steering wheel. He probably drove a Chevy Tahoe before trading it in for this Tesla. Met his wife in college, they're both in marketing but she stopped working after the second kid to stay home and look after them. She probably has nice long black hair. I wonder when he decided to start shaving his head. Did he always style his facial hair into a goatee?

I just get so immersed in my thoughts and it goes on forever.

Nah, no one seems to give a shit when I mention it. They just say "that sucks."

As for how do I think: I just think man lmao

I know where things are in my home, I know what color clothes I own, I know what an apple looks like compared to an orange, but when I close my eyes I can't picture any of that. Not sure what you mean by words alone, but I assume you want to know that if I'm having an inner monologue it's just like talking to myself out loud but in my head.

Realizing that when people say "Close your eyes and picture a rainbow" that people actually see a rainbow, not just the concept of a rainbow, was enlightening because it helped explain why I struggle to learn/understand things people say without physically seeing it/the process.

Even if dreaming of writing up a world doesn't count as daydreaming about yourself, does daydreaming about how the characters themselves count?
Every character in it has to be based on your biases, interests, things you understand well or feel impassioned about. They're all some sort of extension of you.
Aren't those daydreams about character ideas technically you under an alias trying to depict or explore that character idea?
