To be fair we need a politically correct word to replace it to get the same point across.

When we used it in the 90s it was never to describe people with special needs. We used it because it had a certain "oomph" to it that we used to describe something dumb or lame. Every word sounds so Disney compared to going "that's so...well you know"

This post is going to get taken out of context and I prob deserve it.

FYI i don't use it anymore and haven't since high school. There's no place for it

Idk how true but I read somewhere it was originally made because the word idiot was deemed offensive.

I'll use the word in private company where I know no body will be offended. That's still pretty seldom though. But in the "that's stupid" kinda way not a "you're stupid" kinda way. Only people I'll say mean things outright to though is my best friend

It can be hard to stop using words you've used most of your life. Doable though. I've only in the past 6 or 7 years stopped using slurs that I should be offended by myself.

I don't use it, but some podcasts I watch still do. Im not watching them specifically for that reason and one the podcast members usually gives the "what are you doing?" look.
