How far do graphics go when it comes to actually making the game better though?

It makes the experience of playing games better yeah.

If money is no concern why not get a top of the line PC? That's what I'd do.

I just see a lot of this talk and it makes me wonder where it's coming from.
I know that Digital Foundry channel's corrupted a lot of people. There's also probably people thinking the fps pro talk about graphics, fps and their official esports game chair being the difference between winning and losing applies to them. Then there's the ones who put graphics and performance over gameplay because they came for an interactive movie, not a game.

I just struggle to imagine having the kind of enthusiasm over resolution and fps that would make it talk about it like it's the selling point. What does achieving good graphics and performance actually do to these people that makes their day?

It just gives me more control over my entire PC library. I can see how far I can push the hardware myself and choose what settings I want to use and play with.

There's more to PC gaming than top of the line stuff as well. Look at how people are transferring their LV library to the Steam Deck and finding the ideal settings.

If you don't get it you don't get it. It's not for everyone. It's for enthusiasts or people who want the best of the best.

Could you talk me through the sensation of experiencing the best of the best?
You're playing a high end game on max graphics. Maybe it's a game you've played before, although this time it's shiny and each blade of grass is swaying a little more elegantly. Are you all adrenaline until it ends? Pretending you're there? Does it matter if the gameplay's good or the game's designed to last a long time or is it just about the assuredness that your machine is firing on all cylinders?
I don't want this to end at "If you don't get it you don't get it.", there must be some describable appeal.

I'm not really sure what answer you're expecting.

It's similar to people who like to tinker with their cards. Or brew their own coffee. You're in control of the experience and sometimes that's just knowing you have the best of the best.

If you want to play a game with ridiculously high quality ray traced reflections, shadows along with a super smooth framerate you can get that experience today. On a console you can maybe choose a couple of graphics modes at most and they're usually compromised.

If you want to game on two monitors or a super wide monitor you can do that. If you want to cram a game with mods you can do that. If you want to spend thousands of dollars to make a driving simulator PC gaming can get you there.

The compromises you make (if you want to make any) are all up to you.

But yes people who are into tech get enjoyment from seeing advanced graphical features that otherwise wouldn't be possible. 4k Blu-ray and vinyls are similar premium experiences.

What's the difference between a 32 inch TV and a 65 inch TV? Why would you want the bigger one when the smaller one works just fine?

I wasn't really expecting a specific kind of answer, but that'll do. I just wanted to see someone actually go to bat for it rather than simply announce that it's great and then never explain further.
I'm not sure what to think of a crowd frothing at the mouth for a new game for reasons that have seemingly nothing to do with the gameplay.

Provided they both work fine for whatever your intent is, I don't see much issue.
Unless you're playing a hectic RTS or maybe a punishingly difficult Where's Waldo video game, I'm not sure how much a different TV's going to contribute to the quality of what you're playing.

Hundreds of hours modding and troubleshooting 1000 skyrim mod, until it finally works. You feel great sense of pride and accomplishment, played for 15 minutes and realize the joy you got from getting 1000 mods working in complete harmony is far greater than the joy you get from actually playing the game so you uninstall, and repeat 2-3 years in ths future.
