I just have two that I rotate off of charge because I don't have reliable long cables

I got a DualShock charging station for my PS5, arguably one of the best gaming purchases Ive made, just place it back when done and it charges

Switch I just kinda alternate whenever

The Switch has slightly increased latency from the controller if you play it via USB, so I stopped.

I'm old and still think there is noticeable latency between wireless and not so I try and stay wired as much as possible

I didn't think about cable length because all my consoles are next to my computer desk and I play on my monitor

Yeah I do this. Before PS5 I just had multiple controllers with one always plugged in and switched them out as necessary

The only controller I have is a USB controller I use on my PC, and it doesn't have batteries, so I kinda have to keep it plugged in. I didn't realize everything being wireless was so ubiquitous it didn't even merit a poll option.

I don't own any controllers that are "wireless but you can plug them in". Either they have a cord or they don't.

I leave my controllers like 15 ft away from the TV so it's not practical

Why plug your controllers into the console? It's much more efficient to plug them into a USB wall charger near the place you sit.

I bought one of those 12 ft USB extender cables so I can play wired if needed from my couch.

I mainly play on PC and stay wired because it's right next to me and that way I don't need to be paranoid about any latency getting introduced. On consoles I just go wireless - there's already enough delay being introduced by the TV that whatever the controller is doing is even less significant than in the other case.

I got a new surge protector. It shuts off my consoles when I turn off my TV so they don't leech energy, which in turn is meant to lower my electric bill. Because I can't charge my controllers via my console when they're shut off, I leave the cord in considerably more so I can get at least some charge. Still trying to figure it out entirely. Only had this setup a couple weeks.

Sort of

It's not plugged into the Playstation. I play lying on my bed, so I have it plugged in using the plug there.

yeah when clicking into the thread I wasn't at all thinking this was about staying plugged to the console, that's all a hassle

I just got a charger on the ground I plug in if the low battery notif pops up

Also, to answer this: The console is closer to me than any wall outlet, so this doesn't make sense for my hideout. Also, a PS3 and PS4 controllers are very different, so I'd either need to change what's plugged in or buy a multi-USB plug. It's just easier with the cords attached to consoles, and what I'm used to since at previous hideouts, I was low on outlet space and close enough to my TV anyway.
