Most it ever went up overnight was 180 to 250 monthly and that was because a new government came in and the premier is buddybuddy with the indurance industry. So he gave them cart blanch to raise rates. And they did. But hey, free market is best for the consumer, right!?!?!

Thats for comprehensive coverage too

I pay about 130ish now.

geico wanted to go from low-600s to ~900 with higher deductible and lower payout with no tickets or accidents. progressive offered me 650 for better insurance than my original geico

Farmers tried to raise mine up to nearly a grand. I'm dropping them for Progressive, which quoted me a fraction of that cost.

I drive a Prius, so it's low... I don't think I've ever paid lower insurance.

First car was an 03 kia Sedona.
Was paying about $200/month
Wrecked.
Second car was an 07 Buick Rendesvous.
Was paying about $250/month
Wrecked.
Third car was a 2014 dodge journey.
Was paying $400/month
Traded it for a 2017 Patriot.
Was paying $380/month.

Now I have a 2022 Compass, paying $360/month.

This is all over the course of 7 years. Insurance hasn't gone up or changed much in the last 3. Just Alberta rates.

I haven't had a car (or insurance) in a while.

I got some quotes a few months ago and I was stunned at how high they were. I was trying to insure a slightly older (think about ten years) car. I was getting quotes around $150/month.

I'm thirty. I have excellent credit. Never been in an accident. I was trying to insure a freaking Nissan Juke. $150/month. Christ.

I drove a 2002 Honda Civic for years and the insurance was only like... $50/month for liability (it was long since paid off and its KBB at the end of its life was sub 1k). And that's when I was a college student/young adult.

I'll probably never be able to own a car again.

Edit: Also, those of you who are paying $400 out the gate are absolutely getting hosed. That's how much my mom pays for her insurance on a new, huge SUV that she's wrecked multiple times and the insurance company moved her to one of their "sister companies" for high risk policies.
