Like all the indie fps scenes are filled with ultra fast paced shooters from dusk, ultrakill, cultic, etc.

But slower paced shooters that focus more on exploration/setpiece and narrative like half life or system shock is very rare.

There are literally only these:

1. The arkane games from dishonored to prey to deathloop
2. Black mesa (duh)
3. Industria, which i haven't played, but looks cool.
4. Gloomwood, which is more like OG thief games.
5. New deus ex games but the series is dead for now

Dunno what else. There is a game called northern journey, too.

Because Half Life is overrated. It's good, but not nearly as addictive and satisfying as Doom.

Do you have a condition or something? I mean, Half-Life can be fast paced as well, it just matters which episode/wad you're using in Doom.

Not really, but faster paced game exhaust me. Like i can sit down for 4 hours playing an RPG, but playing a level of doom in 30 minutes tires me out. Half life seem to be the perfect balance between down time and action as well as most immersive sims. I love fast paced shooters, serious sam, ninja warrior and the indies recent ones, but because of that i am kinda craving for more slow paced shooters.

Could always start the newer resident evil games tho

People went from Mega Man X/LttP-inspired indie games to PS1/PS2-style collectathon platformers. Give it time, and people will try to emulate the Half Life formula.

There's a cycle of nostalgia, concurrent with the skill level of the latest generation of game devs, that produce throwback titles. We're currently in the "boomer shooter"/Doomclone era. Give it five more years, and you might see people start to take on Half Life.

You should check out The Darkness, TC. It's a decade old, but it's the exact slow paced shooter you're talking about. There's even a scene where you're watching TV with your girlfriend and you can watch the entirety of To Kill A Mockingbird in it if you want.

This, and the sequel. I'm certain I know of others that would fit TC, but I'm blanking - I'll look out for it!

Anytime anybody mentions dusk I Instantly get a headache. Wtf did anybody see in that game?

Agreed. Doom type stuff doesn't click with me. I prefer stuff like Half-Life, Halo or the spy shooters.

I haven't played it myself but Adaca sounds good. There's a demo for it as well.

I adore the level design and horror atmosphere, and the gameplay is fast and incredibly satisfying for me. Some of the later levels in particular are incredibly memorable.
