Homecoming is weird because as a video game it's the most fun I've had playing a silent hill, but as a horror/ silent hill game it's pretty terrible. Downpour comes dangerously close to being a top-tier Silent Hill, but it completely botches the landing by actually changing what happened in the past before the game based on your choices throughout, completely destroying the whole concept of the town and how it works. Plus it was little overly reliant on funhouse sections that were just there to be jump-scares. --- "History Is Much Like An Endless Waltz. I completely understand Homecoming being a bad game, but I found the action combat and boss battles entertaining enough. It's just not why people play Silent Hill. It's like the RE6 of Silent Hill. Downpour, though, just falls into that "post SH4" camp of "everything is awful by default" and I just don't get it. It's not amazing, but outside of a few nitpicks I don't see what criticisms you can levy at it that you can't also levy at SH1-3 from a gameplay perspective, and as SH2 established that each individual's "personal hell" is tailored to the individual's actions and guilt, it's also one of the more true interpretations of SH itself.
