Thought it was pretty good.

The first one was, the second was a joke worth MST3K.

The first one definitely got the whole sense of dread down well.

Silent Hill is an amazing amazing amazing movie that somehow managed to fuck up all of its key frames

I'm pretty sure the first one is considered fairly solid.

The second is just a goddamn mess.

These - the only thing I thought was slightly off was the level of exposition at the end..felt a better movie would have said less

It was an awful movie with the only redeeming quality being the lying figure being done well.

The second movie is amazingly bad. Everyone should watch.

It's weird they used original characters and ended the movie with a nod to the second film going to be about James trying to find his wife, but didn't go for that route and did a bad film adaptation of Silent Hill 3. The Silent Hill movie gets a lot of points for actually making costumes for the monsters instead of straight up CGI.

I always considered the first movie to be the best video game-to-movie adaptation. Sure, they had fan service, but the actors they picked were pretty good (aside from screaming "Silent hill! Silent hill!" at the beginning) and it nailed the aesthetic and world transitions.

Credit to Sean Bean for actually surviving both movies, especially considering his character was supposed to die in the second one .

I think it's a solid movie in its own right and an excellent one by video game movie standards.

People get buttmad that they made it a Christian cult, but I think that was a smarter decision than trying to explain the Order's dumb religion.
