Just formatting a legal document and holy fuck this is horrible

  1. You have a main clause
1.1. then you have a sub clause
1.2. like this
1.2.1. but that has a sub sub clause
1.2.2. and another

(a) but then someone copies in another document and makes it part 2 of the first document that follows this format
(i) that has a sub clause this time in roman numerals with brackets
(ii) and other
i. but for some reason the sub sub clauses are roman numerals without brackets

Like it must be pretty fucking annoying to say something like "I refer you to section 3.1.3.4 section (i) ii of ....

They probably don't enjoy doing the numbering, but it makes specific items of an agreement/law/etc much, much easier to reference going forward.
