This makes me wish I actually went to my 10 year reunion.

Reunions made sense in the days before social media. But now? What's the point? Anyone you want to actually keep in touch with you can find online. But I still think they're pretty stupid. You're an adult now, move on from high school already. It just seems really silly to try to desperately impress people you probably haven't seen for 10 or more years.

In my town unless someone moved 1,000s of miles away you knew what your high school peers were doing and how their lives are.

In a random gas station you'll be like how ya been... everything's OK?

I'd have liked to go to my reunion, but the school didn't inform anyone (apparently it's the former class president's job to organize these things???) and didn't rent us any space. It ended up being about 30 people at a big table at a bar and I couldn't make it because I was 3,000 miles away on short notice.

Even with social media, they seem fun. There are lots of people I'm not connected to on social who I wouldn't mind seeing or totally forgot. They're not going to be mean to me in the span of a three-hour party. It'd be a good excuse to get out and eat food and stuff. Like, even if everyone does still live in the same town, being parents and having a nice out to listen to old music and dance with old crushes would be a good time.

That's guy's not an incel. He's awkward and lacks confidence, but he wasn't bitter and he didn't seem to hate anyone. I'm glad he found out that people did want to see him and that they cared a little more about him than he thought.

It makes more sense if you're from a bigger city/county. I live in Los Angeles County, which has a population of over 10 million people. I can count on one hand, the times I've randomly run into a former classmate. And I graduated 16 years ago.

Plus, the reunion would just be an excuse for everyone to get together and reminisce about the "good old days". I'm sure that feeling will hit some of you eventually lol.

I kinda wish mine had a proper reunion. I would've loved to go. But the classmates organizing it literally had it hosted in some pub in a different town. wtf is that? I didnt go cuz it seemed dumb. Apparently I didnt miss much. Only like 30 people went out of 400 >_>

My school did one 5 years after we left and have done one every year since, until covid anyway. Every year I get invited and every year I say no because it really doesnt appeal to me at all.

Theyll probably make a big deal out of the next one because its 20 years. I still wont go.

My 10 year highschool reunion only invited ~15-20% of my graduating class, the person in charge (who still works at the high school as gyn teacher) only invited the people who were in her social group. It was hilariously pathetic.

I'm surprised that high school reunions are an actual thing. I thought those were a thing from 90s sitcoms.

when i ran a restaurant, we rented our event room for 40th, 50th, 60th etc. reunions about once a month. super fuckin depressing 70th reunion once, spent like an hour talking to this 88 year old guy about how he was one of 12 people from his class still alive.

I can't remember much of my high school days let alone the names and faces of the few people I interacted with, I'm sure they're still around but eh, I've no interest in revisiting that part of my life

That's the problem with reunions now. They never wanna just rent a banquet hall or a gymnasium, they want to have it at "Sticky's Grill-o-Rama" or some fucking Sports dive or some place that costs money. Like you barely even wanna spend $30 to see all these people from High School being like "Yeah I got job at my dad's plant making $31 an hour and - oh sorry I forgot, you remember Michelle right? We got married and have 2 kids." but to spend $80 a person. Fuck that. I'm depressed enough as it is.
