A competitive job market refers to labor competition, not employer competition. If 1000 people can do the same job, they'll land at much lower salaries than if just 10 people can do it, since there are more people to bid against. Because there's a system of poverty where they know people will just TAKE bottom ass wages because they need to eat in order to live. And it's a bonus for them because then they get to sell you on doing more for the "good of the company" to raise productivity and make money hand over fist on your ass till you get burnt out and quit. --- "You're made of spare parts, aren't ya, bud?" ...
