I'm playing it now, the 3 protagonist thing is interesting. Especially when they have all 3 on a mission and you can switch between each if you want. It's a bit weird but also cool. I wonder if multiple protagonists will be a one time thing for GTA or the way of the future for the series

Someone hacked into Rockstar and leaked developmental footage of GTA VI and it has two protagonists; a man and woman in a relationship.

Fun game, really wish they didn't drop the single player DLC though. I get why they did it since GTAO makes a shitload of money but I'm still butthurt

Why the ammo limit? Why can I only carry 20 rockets for my rocket launcher at a time? Why not 9999 or infinite like the ps2 GTA days? It's just... bizarre.

Im not usually a fan of gta but I gave this one a shot. The 3 protagonists is cool, the first heist is cool, since its kinda emergent. The planning stuff is cool, but after that first heist all subsequent ones are pretty scripted, which is dumb.

Michael de Santa is one of the best and most layered GTA protagonists and I'll die on that hill

Im playing through it. Its different playing 3 but the narrative does serve its story. Like they bottlenecked the main story until you do your part for it for each character. The game wont even bring up the spots you need until you do this & that. The game even tells you when its not ready to progress the main story if you goto the place too early. The other two character side stories are fun and nearly seamless. you could go on your own pace kinda stuff. Like when so&so tells you to see them right away then go on your own adventure for bit

Only one I actually beat. Others were arguably more fun to screw around in. But their story missions weren't great.

It's weird, in the beginning of the game they built up Trevor as this bad guy boogeyman that Michael is wary of ever encountering again... and then he immediately encounters him and they do missions and stuff together and everything.

Also, you play as Trevor. So... you're playing as the bad guy? It's a very weird take, very interesting. Like if you played as Catalina in GTA 3 or something.

Single player is great, with a good story and some great characters. A few bits are arse, like the forklift mission, but nothing on the level of the remote control plane missions from past entries.

I never enjoyed GTAO, though, and it's clear where they made sacrifices to the post-release single player plans in favour of the online money juggernaut. Understandable from a business point of view, but it's kinda frustrating in the single player game to see things on the map like the prison that are utterly redundant.

Those were the types of missions that kept me from finishing the ps2 games. Such wonky ass bullshit. Shitty controls and way too hard.

Yeah. I really don't get how anyone could have playtested them and thought "yep, this is a good idea..."

It was okay. An improvement upon GTA4, but truth be told I put a lot more hours into all three of the PS2 trilogy. I kind of just played it for a dozen hours or two and then lost interest.

I don't care for online multiplayer, so I haven't been tempted to come back to it.

Edit: actually, if memory serves, the thing I liked most about GTA5 was periodically swappint characters just to see what situation they were in at a given time.

Irregardless, for all intensive purposes, I could care less.

The 3 protagonist thing is awesome for when you're just messing around the map. You don't ever have to backtrack if you get far away from everything, you can just switch characters and be right back in the city

Plus it's always amazing to switch to Trevor and find him in the middle of something wild.

Trevor is complicated in a good way though. He is in his own world and is so chaotic. It brings michael to who he truly is instead of living his lie of a life like he said.

Like michael was fully retired, living his life with his family the way he wanted and all. He sought conflict and the ones ya love the most become the source of it all.

What makes gtaV great is the tragedy each character has and how they deal with it. Our online session has ended.

Thatll be $7k charged to michael's account, yeah?

Amazing game but I wasnt a big fan of the story. I played GTAO for a couple months but then stopped because of the insane long load times and hackers. I hope they fix that in 6.

I like how each character represents a different kind of GTA experience - Franklin is living the typical GTA arc of starting out small-time and becoming a major player; Michael is essentially a post-game character, starting out in the sort of position that you usually spend the whole game trying to achieve; and Trevor... Trevor is just the living embodiment of the unbridled chaos that people tend to default to in these games when they sack off the story and just go wild.

Trevor's a huge asshole. He treats everyone beneath him like shit. Man just loves being a criminal. Michael loves being a criminal too, but he's too proud to admit it. He can't feel happy or fulfilled without a gun in his hand.

Honestly Franklin was the most underdeveloped of the three protags. Once Trevor comes into the picture, Franklin's storyline all but disappears.

I'm mildly upset that when I bought the game, all the extra doodads that came with the title like "1 million cash" and "assortment of weapons" is not for the actual game, it's for the stupid online portion. Which I don't even engage in since I don't put an internet connection for my ps4. I don't really do "online" when it comes to games

Not a big deal since while my characters don't really have much money, I don't really need money, I already have enough ammo and weapons for missions. Just not enough for screwing around (which ties into my other post about the stupid ammo cap as well as some of the other issues I have with these post ps2 GTAs overall)

Also I cant afford any of the properties around Los Santos, which seems to be the only thing I need money for, which means money is useless if I'm just buying property for the sake of it.

Rockstar totally fucked over single players. They stopped updating single player mode two years after release and only ever updated online afterwards. No single player DLC. No new weapons or cars or anything. No quality of life updates like the vehicle tracker. Nothing. Single player mode is still stuck in 2015 while Online still gets updates.

I don't know why the game is like "oh hey if you steal money from this armored truck you'll get a lot of cash"

The meager $5000 I get from the armored truck (if I can get the money out) is not worth the 3-4 stars I end up with, not worth it at all.

It's a shame because the dlc they made for the previous game was the only time I enjoyed 4. I remember liking ballad of gay tony, it almost made me feel the joy from the san andreas days

Honestly most of the property management is not worth bothering with. It isn't like past games where you could use it to make a bunch of money or unlock cool stuff. There's really only a couple that are mildly profitable, the rest cost so much that you would have to play the game for a ridiculous amount of time just to break even

Its up there with Fortnite and Soulsborne and such being one the biggest and most definitive gaming experiences to happen to gaming as a whole in the last 15 years.
