As in Triple triad will be the main focus and not to get cards to convert into OP magics or whatever.

So...who are some NERDS I gotta beat early on for some good ass cards??

Why not just play FFXIV triple triad? At least then you'll have new opponents and it won't cost you anything.

But you don't need to play the card game in FF9 to get super OP.

I've always been weirded out when people say that Tetra Master is better than Triple Triad. Like, say that FFIX is better than FFVIII and you'll get no complaint from me, but TM better than TT? What kind of crack are you on? Easily the best minigame in a game and easily the best card game implementation in a game that isn't based on being a card game.

I love FF8. My second favorite FF after 10. It's just when I played it as a kid I never paid too much attention to the card game so I thought it'd be fun to switch it up

It's actually super simple to get into, it's just grindy/random. You play cards with arrows and if those arrows are pointing to a blank side you take the card and if you are pointing to an arrow the two cards will roll random numbers based on their stats and the winner will take the other card (plus every card that that card is pointing at). Every time you win (or possibly just play, I don't remember) you have a chance of a card leveling up and increasing one of its stats.

Idk about everyone else but I liked playing with some of the rules like the plus rule or the same rule. Hell, I didn't even mind the random rule at times. The only rule I really hated was the one where u couldn't see the opponent's cards although in a real card game, I guess that makes sense.

Surprised you didn't dislike the Random Cards rule. Flat out the only actually bad rule (the others you like/dislike based on how much you like card games/difficulty therein).

It had to be the battling thing that got me the most confused cause you think you used a good card and all of a sudden, your eidolon card loses against a goblin card. I do remember trying to play to level cards but gave up because it got pretty boring

The random rule added a bit of a challenge to me, like seeing if you can win against a high level opponent while getting dealt geezard or bite bug cards. With the same and plus rule in effect too, it was very possible. Not saying I won all the time but was a fun thing to do.

Most of the rules were fine. I only really disliked Direct, the one where the cards go to whoever was in control of them at the end. Made it more of a pain to get unique cards since you had to flip them instead of just winning, while also risking losing good cards.

i followed a gamefaqs guide a million years ago that just had you easily abolish the random rule but i've always wanted to go back and play it WITH the random rule just to make it a challenge.

Random wasn't bad because of difficulty, but that it made having a larger collection worse and could end up making it so you quite literally could not win. The AI in the game + their card quality was pretty low so most of the time you could pull out a win with bad cards, but if you played the game a lot (of which I did) there was a possibility to just end up in a mathematically impossible match. I had multiples of times where I quite literally only had single option moves that only ended up in my loss. This is somewhat why they made Tetra Master the way that they did, for the worse I might add, but the Random rule was a big problem. In addition I constantly played with sub-par options (like, I essentially refused to use any of the unique cards most of the time because they made things too easy) and Random meant I constantly had them showing up. In that line I remember Random far more for making things boringly easy than I do hard, when strictly talking about difficulty.

Lol, just never use the character cards then. Can't lose good cards if you don't use them. :V

Yeah I wanna love it but RNG has me raging. Leave the grinding and RNG to acquiring cards, not random RNG battles and grinding them to level up your cards lol

Anyways I started and just escaped prison. I did the disc 1 lionheart to be a bit cheesy. Grinding those 20 elnoyle cards was a bit off-putting. I had All on to get more cards for mats/magics and ended up losing a few matches and had to reset progress a few times lol

oh right. Nah its manipulation. But usually its just play someone with X rule play and cancel 8 times and then play and accept and random is abolished
