I hate getting all old and jaded because I feel like I hate everything, but I know that's not true. It's more like I enjoy very specific things or something.

I've been playing with my old PS2 and PS3, and that was fun for a minute. Now I'm looking for something more contemporary.

What games are you looking forward to? That System Shock remake actually looks kind of rad....If it Ever Comes It!

Eh. I'm not much interested in either of those. I once tried Hades for a little bit on a friend's Switch. I can see why people like it, at least.

Lost in Random was a hidden gem last year, if you like the Tim Burton style animation and depressing overtones.

idk if you'll like any of them, but here are my top five from last gen:

Bloodborne
Disco Elysium
Divinity: Original Sin 2
The Last of Us Part II
Red Dead Redemption 2

and while I only played a little, you might like Return to the Obra Dinn.

it has a really cool concept, IMO - you work as this inspector, and you have to determine what happened to a ship full of people (whether they died, escaped, etc.).

edit: since you're looking forward to the System Shock remake, you might like Prey.

I've beaten both.

I don't really do JRPGs. I've heard very good things about The Return of the Obra Dinn though.

I remember seeing a trailer for this a long time ago, but forgot all about it. Looked neat.

I've played TLoU2 and RDR2. The other three I'm not really feeling. I don't have an interest in Prey (2017) either, but I do want to go back and play the original one again.
There's this game I really want to get around to buying called Route 96. The game looks all kinds of charming and atmospheric.

sounds like disco elysium would be something you'd enjoy, considering how story heavy and atmospheric it is

i recently played Vampyr, and while i wouldn't recommend it for everyone, sounds like something you might enjoy considering how story-based it is. i personally loved that i felt like an actual vampire the whole time, well done in that regard.

Slice & Dice is cheap and really addictive, just waiting for version 2 full release in the next few weeks sometime.

Had a lot of fun with Hot Wheels Unleashed as well.

a plague tale is another well-made, story-focused game. kinda similar to vampyr even, i would say.

I don't care if you don't do JRPGS, I will be a second vote for Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition.
It felt like Gael must have felt when he finally found the Dark Soul.

I'm not really sure nowadays. I guess FF7 because I enjoyed the first a lot. I want to see BotW2 because i felt like the first could have been so much better if it was fully fleshed out(bigger and more intricate dungeons, unique unbreakable items, better mob diversity).

I feel like there aren't a lot of exciting big games that pushing for some type of creativity or innovation. All creative ideas are being done by small studios/devs. One of my favorites to come out in the last few years is Slay the Spire.

I've heard good things about Disco Elysium, and maybe I'd give it a try one day, but it's not something that's really piquing my interest at the moment. There's something about Vampyr that's off puting to me. I know it's this mid-shelf title, but it have this cheapness/unpolished look to it that makes me not want to give it a try.

A random suggestion since it just came out but try Freedom Planet 2 (or play Freedom Planet 1 first). Probably unlikely for you, but no harm in suggesting it lol.

I've been playing the Wasteland 2 Director's Cut lately & it's been a blast. It's like a cross between XCom & an old school CRPG like Baldur's Gate.

You can get it on all the new consoles or PC and it's on Game Pass too I think.

It's a lot of stealth. I personally didn't like it. But the majority seems to disagree. And they felt confident enough with the reception to make the sequel a $60 title. So, you very well could like it. Just go in knowing it's a lot of stealth sections. At least, in the beginning. Which is all I played

I never beat it, but that's more of a me thing. I second it for how well done it is. The story is interesting and entertaining to piece together. The enemies are intimidating and can jump scare you in unscripted ways that don't feel cheap. The upgrades make a big difference in how you play while unlocking ways to deal with situations in clever ways that feel rewarding. It's really good.
