I have been playing this game, up to chapter 3. Really fun so far.

Played it, liked it, scratched the old school Paper Mario itch.

Hows the humour compared to paper Mario

are any of chapters as good as the gladiator arena murder mystery or the train murder mystery

Pretty funny. I love vi so much, she's hilarious. All of the 3 main casts are awesome and has excellent dynamic that often lead to humor. The supporting characters are good too. Story is ok so far, nothing amazing but it intrigued me.

They are good, but the average for TTYD is much higher than Bug Fables. To some extent having the main cast have actual dialog, instead of yet another Mario iteration being a silent protagonist with no real character beyond "is a good guy," gives the game a lot of time to do fun stuffs/have solid character writing, but TTYD wins out pretty handily in every other part of the writing.

Still very much worth it for anyone wanting another Paper Mario. It's a great game even if it's not TTYD.

The hard mode medal isn't kidding around lol. Especially the bounties.

I didn't wnat to miss out on anything so I chose to do it on Hard. Unfortunately it kept me from playing more. I would not suggest starting on it.

Wait theres a hard mode? TTYD is one of my favourite games of all time but it was braindead easy. How this compare in terms of difficulty?

Hard mode is enabled by equipping a particular Medal (Badge), which is available from the start. Bug Fables in Hard Mode is definitely harder than TTYD.

I beat the 3rd chapter boss with hard mode, as well as some of the normal sidequests. I got into the golden hill bounty, it wrecked me so hard lol.

I guess i will come back later. I beat the (sidequest spoiler in ch.4)

Quite difficult. I never deactivated the hard mode so far, so i wouldn't know the comparison, but from what i heard is bug fables base difficulty is only slightly harder than PM and TTYD, and hard mode is a lot harder. You really have to think your badges and builds, even fine tuning your badges to certain enemies's.

I finally kick ass muahahahahaha

Vi with 2x power transfer, 2x poison attacker + empower does 20+ damage per turn. With the item that adds turn, you easily can deal 40+ dam per turn. Kabbu with 3x HP plus and heart berries now is almost indestructible. I have defeated the devourer and seedling king.

FINALLY FINISHED THE GAME.

hard mode badge never taken off. 100% discoveries, recipes, bestiary, quest. beat all post game bosses too (they are quite insane) 9/10 game.

i hope they announce sequel or something like this at least. really fun. loved the characters.

combat feels too slow, and you never really get stronger as the game progresses, doing the same amount of damage each fight, heck, you could be near end game and still take a whallop from beginning game enemies

I think i got up to chapter 5 or 6ish and i never went back to it, its fine for what it is, but i def prefer mario

I love it. Also Vi is OP

I've got it sitting in my Steam library for an eventual playthrough. Don't know how long the game is but maybe I could fit in a playthrough before this year's over.

The progression is medal based and there are some berries you get thay increase base stats. By the end, i can deal up to 50 damage per turn, and on average 25 damage per turn using double poison medal + power transfer medal+antlion medal on vi

Great game. Takes everything great about Paper Mario and then transcends it and adds every QoL and bonus feature addition you could ask for.

Absolutely amazing game. I liked it just as much as TTYD. I 100%ed Bug Fables btw I liked it that much.

Devs said there will be a sequel, but they are working on another game rn, then there will be a Bug Fables 2. They have said that they hate direct sequels though so the story of that game is over. They would likely create a new game in the universe with a different cast.

Aww if there's another new title, then it's probably 4-5 years till bug fables 2.

I would love a new team with snakemouth team appearing as some sort of mentor figure, probably expedition outside bugaria (which is literally just a backyard) there can be cooler location maybe a city in a wreck of a car or something like that. There are monsters crazier than in the final dungeon too. Maybe mutated squirrels or rodents, or birds. I think it's impossible for bugs facing something bigger than squirrels. A cat maybe but that's stretching it. Mutated human would be very scary evem that dead lander omega is implied to be human baby/child.
