I think the fear is that they'll tone down the aggressive, mean spirited tone of the franchise to make it more "female friendly".

GTA 1 let you play as a woman..

There's probably a mod to play the entire GTA V story mode as a titty, I don't think you need a baseline female character to mod sex into it.

I for one like to play video games as sexy babes because then I get to look at a sexy babe when I play a video game. It's win win.

I'm just saying that the fact that the guy is making a poor argument is irrelevant since arguments are irrelevant. Your post was telling that guy that just because he wants this protagonist doesn't mean everyone does.

He is the one that brought up the poor argument that it's a plus to stare at a virtual woman. So no its not irrelevant. Not everyone gets a rise out of staring at virtual woman (speaking to his argument sexy babe remark) or role playing as one if there's a male option available.

By that logic there shouldn't be a discussion at all. "Not everyone wants to play as a white guy therefore discussing it is irrelevant." You can literally say that about every game with playable characters
