This time he thinks people are spying on him.

Im actually surprised, he hasnt threatened to [censored] anyone or yelled the hard r repeatedly, yet.

I think hes agitated because some people on the first floor have been getting work done on their apartment, so their tradies have been starting at 8 in the morning so he cant sleep until 2 in the afternoon.

Wow. he's actually quiet after an hour and a half.

Usually he's going until at least 3 in the morning.

Spoke too soon, now he's yelling at his dad.

I mean if he is mentally ill then you're probably just reporting on something that makes no sense

Think of it more as venting, I'm sick of my kids being woken up at 2 in the morning when he has a temper tantrum because his father's told him to go to bed, or if he's just screaming the hard r repeatedly for a few hours because he thinks the really nice people across the hall to him are terrorists, just because they're Muslim. Or, he's screaming it just because.

It really is.

Thankfully, our kids are pretty happy-go-lucky. The people across the hall from us, their daughter was having night terrors a few months back after the guy was doing it pretty much every night for a few weeks straight.

We need to get out of here, but various other life things have fucked up our plans to renovate and then sell the apartment. We're now aiming for next year. Hopefully the property market will have tanked by then, too, so we'll be able to pick up a decent house for less than 1 mil.

About 2 years ago, when the pandemic was first starting, Pizza guy and his dad had this massive, massive argument. Then there was the sound of like, all the things in the house being broken and then nothing.

More than a few people called the cops, thinking that he'd legit killed his dad.

That was at about 10 AM. They turned up at 9 at night, knocked on his door. He yelled at them to fuck off a few times.

So they did.

For additional context, a car was firebombed near here and there was a running gun-battle between two groups of shitheads about two years back as well. Cops turned up an hour or so later and were like "oh yeah that's obviously a faulty vehicle and lol those were just secondary explosions".

Definitely dependent on city life. Neither of us are in a job where we can work from home, and the rural equivalent of one of our jobs would be fairly horrible.

I've actively considered a treechange, but even working remotely my job depends on a fairly high speed connection.

At the moment I'm thinking our best bet will be to fully pay off the mortgage on this apartment which is almost paid off, rent it out (and in the process become one of CE's most hated types of people) and use it as additional capital when we're applying for a mortgage on an actual house.

I am definitely and distinctly not a fan.

If I were taller, I'd use negative reinforcement to impress upon him that that shit's not acceptable. Multiple times, if necessary.

Unfortunately, a pocket person with a gimpy hand can't instil much negative reinforcement on a 6 foot-something guy in the middle of a psychotic episode.

Yes, yes I do.

Which is why I find him yelling "pizza pizza Srebrenica" at the people downstairs so messed up. That, along with the "Radko Mladic" chant makes me think he knows exactly what he's doing since they're Muslim, but also that I don't think he realises that them being Lebanese, they probably don't know what the fuck he's on about.

He was yelling at his dad a bit last night, but its generally just been him sitting in his room giggling loudly until 3 in the morning, with his windows open.

What do you think should be done re someone in this situation?

I am similar.

In an ideal world, hed be able to get the mental health support he badly needs.

Realistically speaking, were gonna move out as soon as things settle down and we know long term our family will have two incomes to support a higher mortgage.

I was wondering how you were going to respond to that one.
