As bad as 9/11 was, I still have so much nostalgia for that period of my life.

Watching all the 9/11 themed Newgrounds cartoons and everything.

Just the internet in general back then was so good.

Not in Arizona for the next few hours

9/11/2016 was a cool day though. My dad was getting ready to sending me off to my final year of college. We had a nice talk about everything going on in my life and it was a better experience with my dad. My relationship with him wasn't always great but that was when things started getting better between us.

I was in the second grade when the real 9/11 happened and I had no idea as to wtf

And South Park around that period was so fucking good, too.

Lot of nostalgia for old South Park.

On that day I was a fresh high school graduate, but wasn't working yet or college. I was asleep when it started. I remember my mom woke me up and said something was happening on the news ans I guess she sensed it was going to become history

I got up and saw one of the towers already gone I think. I might have seen the 2nd one collapse live. I can't remember . My sister went to school. My parents went to work

I was home all day talking on the board I used at the time, the social board at Everquest.com

Talking to EQ players on the board and popping into the game some to see what people were saying there

Everyone was freaking out. And I had CNN on the whole time. They kept showing people in the middle east having celebrations. And that was pissing off the people I was talking to

Later I ended up getting work at a grocery store as a night stocker. It was a military store, off base but meant for military. Technically a commissary. But it was military so they had a guard for a while checking everyone going in after hours to make sure we weren't setting up bombs or something. I think for my first year that job, I always had to show an ID to get through

It was a weird time to be alive.

It was so sudden.

I remember I stayed home from school that day for some reason, and I was watching Evil Dead 2 on VHS in the bedroom, and my grandpa came in and told me to come check out what was happening on tv.

I remember being on the couch with the TV on, North was already hit. Then while I'm waking up more, the South is hit live on the news. So it was very much a 'am I having some weird dream thing'.

Pretty sure that was around the time I'd sleep on my couch primarily too, gawd I regret that.

I was at job fair during 9/11. The job recruiters all got calls on their cell phones informing them that New York City was being bombarded by airplanes. Some of the job recruiters had family in New York City. Some of them went nuts and threatened to kill the job seekers (college students)

I informed the organizer of the job fair that several of the recruiters were threatening to kill the college kids, and that he should call the police. The organizer of the job fair got angry at me, and threatened to beat me up. I never went to a job fair again

The job recruiters were shrieking, "My family is danger! I don't care about my fucking job." And the college kids kept asking about jobs anyway. So the recruiters got angry at the college kids

That is still psychotic. They should have just left. But not start making death threats

If they were that worried I would understand them running off.

Maybe he just meant the time frame leading up to/around that time. It was pretty chill/nice, then things ofcourse changed.

Though that said I do have a personal 'nostalgia'/connection to the date. Which has been a random struggle.

I feel some nostalgia for that time era. Separate from the attack. The late 90s and early 2000s were an interesting time for me. That was when I was going from a teenager to my 20s

It also was a fun time to be on the internet. It is when mmos like everquest and later WoW rose to power

Online gaming in general began to rise during that time

I was playing text-based online games at that time. They were called MUDs, Multi-User Dungeons. During 9/11, almost everybody left my favorite MUD. I asked the leader of the MUD why everybody had left. He informed me that they had all gone to Everquest, Asheron's Call, and Dark Age of Camelot

I used to play a MUD. Actually, started pre 9/11. It still a top listed one. I haven't logged in for years now but last anyone mentioned MUDs, it was still top 10. Based out of Finland of all places lol. Still going strong apparently if the MUD community itself is going strong.

This is the 9/11 Newgrounds animation I remember most. You probably won't get it if you don't know who the Clock Crew was.

Old Newgrounds was awesome.

That's why I love Oneyplays so much. They came from Newgrounds and are always dropping references to Newgrounds cartoons. And they're obsessed with a lot of the same people I am, like The Channel Awesome people, and Chris Chan.

My mother was INCONSOLABLE that day. We do not live in the US. We live in Saskatchewan. All she did was watch CNN that day, and probably for the rest of the week.

And my great grandma swore there were terrorists on the roof for weeks :/ I'm like grandma, the tallest building in Saskatchewan is less than 300 feet tall.

It drove people crazy all over.

Oh yeah I remember those and when it came to light they had nothing to do with 9/11 and were stock footage from years prior and then we had videos from the US of people celebrating as well which was dark af.
