I write today on behalf of my mother, who on September 6th, 2022 was taken to Southlake Regional Health Center suffering from ketoacidosis stemming from spoiled insulin due to her landlady's refusal to replace her failing fridge for more than a year now. She was charged with assault of the landlady's husband, who has spent the last three months in a dedicated campaign of harassment, watching and besetting, stalking, threats, assault, and has been protected by a standing order not to charge any perceived landlord unless the charge comes through the Landlord Tenant Board; this is unacceptable.

It takes eight months for a tenant to even get a file number; in contrast to landlords who can file and receive a file number in a day.

The command decision that only the Landlord Tenant Board can be considered the victim, endangers life, and opens officers to civil and criminal liability; this is unacceptable.

The paramountcy of federal law protects the peoples of Canada, it must be asserted. The charge against my mother is blatantly absurd, and will not stand the scrutiny of the courts. My mother needs the peaceful enjoyment of her home restored and her abuser charged. And more, this is not just about my mothers plight, or the five people that reside at this apartment complex; with this order in place, I am without doubt that there are others who have suffered its unintended consequences. We need address this issue with utmost urgency, review training practices and procedures to identify the depth and scope of this problem, and implement measured steps to correct it.

I thank you all for your considerable and continuing tireless service, I know that together we can address this with all the speed and urgency it deserves.

Yup, barrels of fun, sent out to the appropriate ministers and the commissioner of the OPP, haven't gotten the critics yet, but the leadership has it and the Senator she is close with.

This is my foreseeable future.

She told me she is being mistreated by the hospital, not giving her water, trying to feed her citrus that she is allergic to, trowing water at her, not letter her take a shower or bath, not allowing her access to her phone or allowing her to contact anyone else, tried to get through to the patient advocate at the hospital and their entire phone system crashed...

Calling the hospital now just returns a message that the number is not in service, contacted the local Police, they cannot call the hospital; I think someone cyber attacked the hospital...

The landlady's husband and my mothers abuser has been told to have no contact with me at all and any forms of communication must go through his legal representative, he tested it out yesterday by trying to accost me in the hall, I stared him back into his apartment without a word.

He has left me two notes today, I have not gone down to get the second as he leaves the front door locked when he has a note that he wants to deliver to me.

officially they're viable for a month without refrigeration and then another month once opened

but unofficially they're just fine without being refrigerated, they just lose potency unless they're real old and opened. their expiration date is about a year, too, after all. it's not like anything changes from the pharmacy to your possession. they're just sitting in a fridge there

if your mom also did not have any insulin for her disease in a place with socialized healthcare, then that's indicitave of other problems

I don't understand it either, I think they had been giving her too much and she's been trying to use the oldest first.

It already is a minifridge; it's a bloody $100 walmart piece of crap. A real fridge wouldn't fit up the stairs.

Moot anyway, she's in the hospital and I can't even get through to the hospital.

Getting letters out to whoever I can think of to help, there are many sympathetic ears but most can only sit and watch with concern.

I am finding many shortcomings and cracks in the system, the review from this will hopefully help a great many Canadians but the short term pain is terrible.

Heard back from a few and still waiting on others, I think she is doing well enough but I have yet to speak to her today.

I made an appointment with my local priest, going to sit and talk with him this evening. Was followed up to the church, sped off when I went to confront them, fairly certain I have the vehicle on file from a previous incident.

Heard back from my mum, she is doing okay, there will be some things to work out in the coming days but things are looking up.

The conversation with the Padre went well, heart felt lighter after talking with him.

Thank you, I think we will be. Just need to take it a day at a time.

With my mum still in hospital, I am using her heating pad and I will probably have to buy one of my own at some point; it's pretty great.

Mum's out of the hospital is at a different and better hospital, still have a lot to sort out.

Her Doctor was not at the hospital when she was there,(they couldn't release her the day before when he was for *reasons*) the ER did not want to admit her because she had just been discharged from a different hospital, shelters are full, hotels are cost prohibitive.

She was in scrubs and wanted to come home and get clothes, I had her meet me at the church up the street, the Padre could offer no direct help, so she called police and told them she was coming home, it scared her abuser to see her walking up the driveway, he called the cops and they came and took her away, denying she called them. (The Landlady and her husband have two adopted sons that are police officers, something they leverage frequently)

Working with a local service, they arranged for her to be released and I am uncertain what her housing situation is going to be, she left her phone here when she was taken away last night.

Supremely frustrated by all this, had a call on Monday from a service that is supposed to be able to help me but I have no timeline on what is happening next and feel ignored, lied to and strung along by those in positions of power who could do something but choose not to, and those that actively choose to do the wrong thing.

There are people helping but a lot of the help they can provide boils down to hurry up an wait while providing best wishes.

Good news everyone!

Mum is in temporary emergency housing, brand new facility, (first resident) there are more people who are going to help and the Establishment is getting fed up with the antics of this criminal element operating within their midst; wheels of justice turn slowly, I need to keep doing the work and keep faith.

Relieved that I don't have to worry about my Mum for the immediate future, now I just have to continue on with her abuser living downstairs.
