Haven't seen it in like 20+ years but I remember enjoying it.

Love it in a "it's so bad it's good" way.

Dont remember much, apart from the Nip Tuck dude and the sign language.

I liked it as a kid, rewatched it several times. Definitely felt like it was trying to cash in on Jurassic Park's wake by being a creature-centric adventure thriller in the same vein (in this regard at least it wasn't nearly as preposterous as Twister).

Great cast. Probably my favorite role of Laura Linney - in hindsight she was one of the rare tough non-sexualized female protags of that era - and Ernie Hudson and Tim Curry were a lot of fun too.

I'm aware of the show and remember it airing but I didn't know the main dude in the movie was the main dude in this show too. Interesting. Good to see this movie didn't destroy his career.

Absolutely was. Michael Crichton wrote both Jurassic Park and Congo and they probably figured well if he wrote one book that became a world famous movie maybe another of his would be. It wasn't. Crichton had a whole slew of books turned into less than stellar movies but some have a cult following Like Sphere or Timeline. Or some were just straight up movies he wrote that are popular like Twister.

It doesn't need to be rediscovered because I never lost it. In fact, I watched it again last week (been going through my movie library).

Have to see it again. Remember it playing non stop on HBO back then.

Actually I do like that movie, yes. I also like The Relic.

It's one of my favorite unintentionally-campy movies. It tries to sell itself as a serious JP-grade thriller, but the good-guy stormchasers are so over-the-top quirky, the love triangle is so damn cheesy, and the tornadoes somehow have more sentience and personality than a good number of the human cast.

Loved this when it came out. I recorded it off the telly, too, and watched it dozens of times.

And yet, tbh, I'd completely forgotten about it until this topic.

I re-watch Congo every few months.

Speaking of Twister, there was a song used on the film in two different spots and I've always wondered what it was. Probably since I first saw the movie. Today I have found it, I have the video starting at the point I recognized.
