My manager and skip level were both really happy for me. Their reaction was interesting. It was almost like they were trying to tell me to take it and run. Ive been hearing more whispers of major stuff happening behind the scenes, like a change of leadership coming soon and even discussions of cutting our benefits down to save the company money. My manager told me she might not be around in a few months if I did want to stick it out and take her job. And she made a comment that she hopes well get to work together again soon. Just lots of signals that things arent going well. Made me feel much better about my decision to go.

One of the other managers tried really hard to keep me and suggested I move to her group instead. That she would give me direct reports and Id be team lead in all but name. But that made no logical sense. Why would I do the job without any recognition? It wasnt like oh if you do the job well in a few months well make it official but just offering me to do it until a lead opening was available whenever that would be

Weird proposal and I turned it down. Seems like something bigger going on if they cant even just make a title change.

So interesting. Ive been breaking the news throughout the week to people and it turns into a therapy session every time. They are also unhappy but they dont have a safe place to speak. They know Im leaving so they feel like they can vent. My head has been spinning from it all. But Im glad Im able to validate their feelings and give them an outlet.
