I think everyone is into actual politics, the business of how to run the society we live in. To say you're not is like saying you're not into getting a meal every day; politics is a self-interest.

That's not what modern day politics is about though. Nothing Congress does ever helps anyone but corporations. Why would most people be interested in any of that if it has no bearing whatsoever on their lives?

You wouldn't declaw a cat (or at least, I hope not) or deprive any animal of its ability to defend itself, using whatever means necessary. It is not politics. It is a right granted upon any living creature. You may defend yourself. If your brain allows the tools thereof, then it is allowed.

I'm sure there were lots of Southerners in the first 70 years of the 1900s who wondered why black people were so "obsessed" with politics. Minorities are typically not afforded the privilege of "living their own life unconcerned with politics".
