Oh man I remember being so excited about karma and 500 post topics when I was 13 on this website.

I was such a little nerd lol

Speaking of which, why was the annual karma boost ever a thing? And does it still happen lol

I remember in 2009 or 2010, some mod went crazy and locked every topic on the front page for a couple hours straight. People would purposefully bump topics they didn't like up there so that it would get locked. idk if they ever figured out who did it, but the event was dubbed SilenCE >_>

My favourite memory is when Duckbear was in his "stunning Buddhist" era, and Cronogamer warned him for every single one of his posts before stepping down. Ducky was somewhere in the negative thousands for karma.

Karma boost hasn't been a thing in a long time. Gamefaqs kinda stopped caring about karma in general now >_>

It wasn't too different but the boards moved much faster. When I started posting on CE in 2012, posts would sink five or more places when refreshing the page after only a few seconds.

Yeah, I remember making a topic and like 5 seconds later, it was already on page 2 lol. And there was probably triple the active topics at once that we have now

CJayC did the annual karma boost to celebrate the anniversary when GameFaqs went on line. You just had to post on that day to receive it, although he changed it later to some other requirement that has slipped my mind.
