Havent been to one in a while.

Boyfriend wants to go, so might go this weekend.

My local mall is dead.

Not anymore no.
But when I was younger hell yeah. My friends and I would go there just to hang out. We'd browse every store but not buy a damn thing lol. Then just chill at the food court talking and chatting for hours on end. Good times man

I'm cool with them but all of the local ones are dead, but I'd visit an active one.

i have been inside 1 mall in the past like 10 years and it had been completely hollowed out of anything remotely interesting to me long ago. it was kind of sad to be completely honest

Same. My local mall was the Century III (or Century 3) in Pittsburgh's South Hills. Third largest mall in the world when it opened in the 70s and was a happening place to be through the 90s... Now it's just a giant bird cage I'm genuinely sad when I think about it...

In retrospect my favorite thing about it was the layout, so many different nooks and crannies and staircases it actually reminded me of a dungeon from a Zelda game in terms of its shear layout, seriously

I haven't been to a mall since i was 8 in an M&M's costume and getting a Spawn comic instead of candy from one of the stores. Malls are dying in the modern age the only experience I have with Malls is the movie Mallrats and I don't remember shit about that movie so i guess the only other experience I have is Paul Blart: Mall Cop

My local mall brings in a shit ton of money for the city, so it's always got stuff going on and is one of the three hubs here. I enjoy going when it's a nice day out and I feel like spending any money. The events are hit and miss. It's extremely cozy after Summertime ends, rarely any teenagers around during Fall and Winter.

Ours became unsafe over the past few years and most of the stores are closed

Like 20 years ago, the mall was cool. Since the rise of internet shopping, as well as the fall of arcades, malls are kinda pointless now

Well technically rich people malls can annoy me too. It has to be at the intersection of disinteresting to most people but interesting to me.

I dont like going to most malls. So many of them have the same stores. Some of the more upscale ones are fun to visit a few times a year.

When I was kid and lived in a smaller town, I loved malls. There are dying malls everywhere that make me really sad. The ones where you remember when they were absolutely bustling. Online shopping kind of killed so many stores.

Back in the 90s and early 2000s sure. Now it just seems like a giant husk with stores coming in every 6 months just to close down or go somewhere else. Pretty much the same stores now these days.

They ruined so many downtowns and mainstreets, RIP Malls.

Used to, now they're mostly sad shells of what they used to be.

Good ones that still remain in big cities are fun to go to. The ones that are in small towns or in some suburbs are dead or dying.

i usually do. MoA is great for just getting out and roaming.

For the most part, the malls that want to continue being successful are also starting to realize that having things to do is just as, if not more important than having places to shop. Escape rooms in malls are becoming more common, wider variety of unique food stands instead of just the basic food court fare. Rides and games and shit. One mall near me even has a fuckin indoor petting zoo.

And of course, the rare time I drop into a barren empty shell of a mall (usually when on a road trip as a good place to stretch the legs) is also fun in its own way.
