After the first area, im spending more and more time just staring at the screen. There are some great logic puzzles, but pattern recognition isnt my strong suit.

I just spent like 20 minutes on a panel and dont even know how i solved, so i cant understand the next section.

Some of the puzzles are absolute horse**** though.

There's one in the desert area (still part of the tutorial, just a little farther on) that's just BS. I had to look that one up.

Here's a long video explaining how great The Witness is and why you maybe shouldn't play it (TC maybe wait on this one, its got spoilers) - but the main point is that some of the late-game puzzles don't have a valid explanation beyond the developer trying to **** with you.

I loved that game but I definitely cheated to finish it because the one set of puzzles was completely beyond my ability to work out in my head. I even replayed the game once and still cant do those ones, at all.

I've just kinda wandered from place to place after getting stuck.

Is there a recommended path or do you just solve puzzles as you find them?

Im the type to call the puzzle dumb. Like it's the puzzles fault for being too hard for me.

It's like them dudes hitting on a chick and then acting like they ain't shit when they get rejected.

LOL, dis describes me to a T. I dont think I even got past da tutorial. Luckily I got it for free.

At last a topic for my intellect level. I wanted to like the Professor Layton games but I couldn't solve puzzles to save my life.

it would be a good game if literally every puzzle wasn't the exact same.

Unfortunately, not really. It's very much a puzzle game for puzzle game lovers. Yeah there is some stuff for artsy people, it's not Baba is You, but it's all about the puzzles. At most you can just stop one that you're getting stuck on and moving onto another. While they are largely given to you in the order that makes it easiest sometimes just doing a different one will make what the problem is with one puzzle easier.

Not really, no. There is always a logic.

Doesn't mean they aren't trying to screw with you, though. At least they aren't brain-melting on top of that, I suppose.

I started the game a few years ago.
My problem werent the puzzles but the lack of menus/map to keep track of where I already was or where to go.

Had to take a few weeks break and couldnt remember anything.

It is really hard, but I quit because sometimes it is about getting the angle so exactly right that I have no idea if I have the right idea or not. Can spend half an hour trying to get the angle right when I KNOW the solution.

The areas near the entrance are easiest imo. The orchard with the fruit hanging in the trees is a sort of secondary tutorial for how to figure out puzzles, and the glass factory/boathouse and the little peninsula next to it are the two easiest sections to get through, and the desert area next to them is probably the next easiest, imo. Theres also a little shady forest section next to the quarry that was pretty easy to get through.

i got it for free a year or two ago. was expecting something myst-like but every puzzle i tried ended up being minor variations of the same formula and i got bored at around 3 hours in or so. maybe it gets super interesting later but it felt very pretentious without being interesting enough to back it up from what i experienced

Yeah, I'm throwing in the towel. I solved some of the more interesting puzzles(greenhouse, hedgemaze, and castle but it's so much effort for some potential payoff down the line.

Guess I'll try out Returnal.

Second this. It's pretty funny and more bite-sized so you won't get burnt out.

I was really hoping it would become more than a connect-the-dots game, but it was still good

puzzle games are great. my last batch had 3 puzzle type games of varying difficulty.
planning on the witness someday there's a trick to get unlimited time to do that one trophy.

My only gripe with it is it had a way of making the player believe it would become more than connect the dots, but then it never did

idk maybe thats on me for having too much imagination

Talos Principle is more friendly. Great game!
