Cool, good to know you can't read.

Edit: Regardless of how I left this last job, I consider myself better off. I'd rather not work for a company that steals your money and lies to you.

I mean, I basically am. I usually make a significant amount more from each successive job. I'm also glad to not be working there anymore. Tons of red flags, culminating in this.

Yeah the only way to get a really big raise anymore is to job hop but doesn't it kind of look poorly on your resume? What do you say to explain how many jobs you've had the last 5 years or so? Just say personal circumstances?

Well, I didnt include my last one, and I wont include this one. No real reason to tell them. I just say Ive been taking care of my family and my elderly father since the job before last.

Beyond that, they dont really care. My skills and years of experience are so long that Im in high demand. If I wanted to move to the south or east coast, I could probably have a job in two weeks. Before I got my job in Iowa I think it was like 12 different companies across 10 states that hit me up.

And I feel weird working at 3 different companies (technically 4 since I was working as a contractor through a 3rd party before going full time at my current job) in the last 18 years.

Although I have only worked 3.5 years at my current one, and 3 years at my first one. The other twelve was at one company.

Say what you want, but he doesn't seem to have much trouble finding work regardless. Meaning he's at the very least marketable, and honestly makes me a bit sympathetic to whatever his gripes are. I mean I work at a well-paying job that's part of a generally garbage industry. I'm just lucky my company is as good as they are.

The fact that he *can* quit numerous jobs and find work so easily is a luxury that not many people have and says quite a bit about his value.

There's nothing wrong with working at places long term either if you're happy with it there. I said many times (Maybe here, I don't remember, but to people I know), that I would have retired at my first job in my field. But they went really sideways and I left. They no longer exist.

The second job in California I left to move out of the state. That company is almost defunct at this point, but my department no longer exists at that location. They shipped the jobs to Mexico to save money.

Well, it kind of depends on what I'm trying to do. If I wanted to move, I would 100% be able to find a job easily. But my dad is getting old, and is having a hard time taking care of himself anymore... so I'm going to be living here for awhile, or at least near. So working in this area is necessary.

I've contemplated going back to college to change careers every now and then. If I have to deal with these companies like this, I should at least be able to do it at a desk instead of having to do manual labor.

Only one company has made claims that I wasn't worth what they were paying me. The rest always adulated on my work. I'm very good at what I do, as well as being relatively young, in a field that has a lot of people retiring out of it. My coworkers at this last job loved my work and they told me they had spent 3 years trying to find someone to fill that role.

Yeah, they straight up lied when I was doing the interviews about the culture of work, and how well the company operated. As soon as I started working there, they had literally nothing but negative things, and constant complaints about the other departments. Constant belittling of everyone else's work... it was pretty amazing how quickly their attitudes changed once I worked there. Not to mention all the hassle over benefits before and after starting. The ineptitude regarding how benefits were being handled, when they started, which directly lead to my leaving the company... Yeah.

I mean, I could definitely find a job in this area, if I want to do more machinist work, rather than Toolmaker work, but I don't want to do Production style work.

This actually. You have to do what's right for you and being able to find work quickly is something I certainly envy. I hope Zang eventually finds what's right for him.
