Do you consider it cheating to look at another player's screen in local play?

Whether its call of duty, cs go, halo etc. Do you think its cheating to look during split screen?

They can look at mine, so it's fair game. Don't be a scrub.

Of course its not cheating. Its a shared screen and your opponent can do the same thing in return.

Irregardless, for all intensive purposes, I could care less.

It's impossible to prevent screen peeking without a physical partition or playing one of the rare games that use 3D glasses to allow different players to see a different image. So to prevent frustration, players should expect to be able to screen peek.

The only person getting cheated is yourself if you DON'T screen-watch. Do the minimum to win man.

Me and my brothers would actually put a towel draped over a broom to prevent this, assuming it was splitscreen vertically.

Its kinda not possible given the shape of TVs now, but its definitely cheating.

We did it for the DBZ Tenkaichi games too, iirc, since stealth was a viable way to fight.

No

it basically came down to a gentlemen's agreement:

"I won't screenwatch you if you don't screenwatch me".

And it took trust. You needed to have respect for one another. To know you'd all play honestly. At least that's how we did it where i'm from.

if you caught a guy SWing, then you just SW. But that isn't as fun as being honest. It's cheeky. And if someone does it habitually, they don't get invited back.

Of course not. This is an invented problem streamers came up with because they were mad that they couldn't simultaneously make a living playing games on the internet and still have a normal experience with hidden information.

The reason you know this, is because 100% of people say they would look if their opponent showed them their hand/screen/hidden information in person. Why it would somehow be different on the internet, when you're making money off your match with me to boot, is beyond me.

Yes, it's cheating. It's more fun if you don't constantly know each other's locations. Like what's the fun of playing an fps with traps like mines and turrets, if they can see you setting it up?

But if they did start screen watching, then you just did it right back to them. So it wasn't a huge deal.
