You could be a fan of a team like the A's, Pirates, or (in my case) Marlins, teams who actively avoid becoming too good by trading away their best young players before the team has to pay them. The Lions have literally won nothing of consequence since 1957. The Kings have won nothing of consequence since 1951 (they were the Rochester Royals). And yeah, sure, other teams like the football Cardinals and the Cleveland Indians have longer droughts, but at least they got close a few times and provided some exciting moments.
