Just a guess, what he really means is that teenagers hang out and have fun instead of spending money on crappy souvenirs.

I remember hearing from someone that parents would buy season passes and food passes for their kids, then drop their kids off there since it's cheaper than having someone watch or feed them.

Maybe that's what the CEO is referencing.

I wouldnt be shocked if it was a daycare for teenagers today. Because it was a hangout for teenagers 25-30 years ago as well. Its a theme park in the middle of a Chicagoland suburb. If kids can get a season pass, then no shit theyre gonna go there with friends during the summer.

Sounds like hes literally just mad that it isnt a national/global family destination attraction, like Disney World, raking in cash from families with money to burn.

We want to be a park for the middle class and even the lower middle class, [the CEO] said. We believe our demographic is the average income of the US and Im migrating a little bit from what I call the Kmart, Walmart [customer] to maybe the target customers, if I want to say that.

yikes

They'll raise prices to exclude "Walmart" types, realize only catering to "Target" types isn't as profitable bc there aren't nearly as many of them, raise prices even more to compensate, and then complain when nobody wants to go to their shitty park.

Your park is mostly for thrill ride enthusiasts. That means a lot of healthy preteens, teens, and young adults. If a park guest is acting that badly, boot their asses out. Ban them if they continue to act badly.

He's complaining for the same reason Knott's is complaining. Some guests are causing a lot of trouble.

Season pass for Great America is $80 and you can add on a dining pass for $135. For $215 they definitely cant afford it if a teen goes every day for the summer.

From that video comment section:

As a Knotts worker, I can speak for the majority for all of us here at Knotts, this really pisses us all off. The parents drop of their kids with no supervision and expect us to "daycare". These fools give Knotts a bad representation and ruin it for the rest of us. Knotts needs to implement higher prices of admission as well as season passes, an office for Buena Park Police Department, and parental supervision/ chaperone for minors under 18.

Thats bad business on Six Flags part. Dont make a sale, then complain when you lose money based on the parameters that you established, and the other party is obeying those parameters.

Pretty much this. I was just at a WCA theme park today and the majority of the clientele was shrieking teenagers aggressively hitting vapes and sneaking alcohol out of the beer garden.

Its kind of a dumb thing to say from a business perspective but I do see where hes coming from.

Does that mean my Walmart is an exception? Because other then people arguing with each other, and petty thefts, I don't really see fights or murders, or streakers, or anything of that sort. I'm not there everyday but it doesn't make the news like some other interesting Walmarts.

Yeah, back in the 90's I lived not too far from Great America. I would get the summer pass, a month long bus pass, and take a bus from a stop one block away from my house that went straight to the park. It was sort of a hangout place for local kids even then; made a lot easier by the bus system being robust.
