I went to sleep at 9:30 pm to get a good nights rest. Of course, this is the night my daughter decides to wake up screaming at 11:30 and NOT self soothe back to sleep like she does every other night she does this. Up until 1am before I managed to get spotty sleep as she would cry here and there throughout the night

Then of course I just have to wake up to my period. Only, I already had a period two weeks ago. WTF. This has never happened. Ever.

Fml. Im excited about this potential job too. And Im sleep deprived, foggy headed, crampy and drained. And I have 4 hours of interviews today. Sigh

I want to make a joke about "spotty" sleep and being in your period, but I can't assemble it in a way I can live with.

My last interview, both the train there and the train back both ended up getting cancelled. Stuff only goes wrong on the days where it's important

I dont feel like I did very well. So many questions over 4 hours it was really intense. I think if I dont get it then Im just going to stop trying to interview anymore until my girl is a little older and in daycare. I got rejected for 2 other jobs last month (though one did make an offer for a lower level role but I turned it down). My mind is just not sharp these days.

Everything from my experience to specific things like talking about things that didnt go well or conflict resolution or leadership skills. But very specific questions. And I dunno. I feel like I dont have conflicts or big things that went wrong so I struggled.

Are you on birth control? I dated a girl who was on this injection BC and it would make her spot a lot after her period too. The doctor gave her medicine to help with that but it would make her dizzy.

Its standard in my industry. Which makes it so hard for me. And its not back to back typically since its virtual. But then I have to switch back to my job and back to interviews all day. My mind gets even less sharp for the later ones.

Last month I also had no sleep the night before again because my daughter was up all night. And I was just stumbling over all my words. It was a manager role which is what I was hoping to get. They did make me an offer but it was a lateral move for less money.

I just dont see how I can pass these interviews in my current state.

No. And Ive had regular periods for over a year since giving birth. Im having my blood drawn today to check my hormones. I want to avoid BC as much as possible. I never want to take hormones again.

Was it all back to back? The other company that turned me down last month also had 8 rounds but spread out. It took weeks it was crazy. And at the very end they told me they went with someone else who had a very specific industry experience that I didnt have and they knew that from the jump.

I thought you were happy at your company? You looking to jump?

Might be time to find a new industry. Speaking as a sales goon, it'd be a shock if the ENTIRE process from initial phone screen to offer acceptance took four total hours.

Half hour HR phone screen
Half hour to hour with hiring manager
Half hour with a peer
Half hour with hiring manager's boss and/or VP of department
Half hour discussing offer if need be.

I have no idea why recruiting would be much different from a process like this. There's two roles with similar work patterns and personalities, there's no reason it should be taking four hours in TOTAL, let alone at once.

It really only makes sense for jobs like coding/engineering to have four hours at once.

These are at tech companies so they essentially make recruiters also go through long drawn out interviews. The stakes are high money wise and the bar is high for what they look for. Pretty much any tech company will make me go through 4+ hours. The ones who dont wont be able to offer anywhere near my salary.

You can use a range if you want or just not answer, but how much do you make / are you looking for?

I guess this is a management position though so that's a little more understandable. But four hours in one sitting is still wack.

I had that experience in an interview recently. The interviewer even gave me feedback that my answers to such questions were weak. Which is fine, but it's hard for me to come up with an answer when I haven't had the experience

Dont know how old you are, but uterine polyps are more likely to form as you get into perimenopause. They arent harmful but they cause spotting.

Or it can just be the start of perimenopause by itself. Periods start going out of whack then.

Between base, bonus and equity, Im making a little over $200k. But the latter two are going down with the market so Im flexible if the base is good. I talked to a tech startup that was at most $170k all in plus paper money (stock options) and I couldnt take that much of a cut.

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

Damn. Sorry to hear that. Its sort of similar with my situation. Joined this company last year with them selling me on how much theyre growing and its a great time to join for career growth. Then the VP left and they reshuffled everything, market is down and there is no more growth so Im stuck. Its not too dire but Ill explore opportunities as they come up.

Aww thanks. I think it might be both but I definitely felt like my ability to focus dropped after having a baby. Add in my cycle being off this month and my baby is in a constant state of teething. I have friends with babies who hardly even have any teeth and this girl has 12 and 4 more starting to come in.

Im 37 and do suspect its polyps. I had one removed a couple of years ago. Had spotting then and removing it stopped it. I have an ultrasound scheduled next week.
