I'm kind of finding myself having to kill some peeps who seem like they might have quests to give me cause my persuasion isn't good enough.

I'm okay with it, but I dunno if the game is going to let me be okay with it.

I don't think there are any soft lock scenarios in KOTOR by killing NPCs. All the ones you have the option to kill are very minor and have pretty much 0 impact on the overall story, just might make a side quest or planet quest have a slightly different resolution.

What about Juhani?

Yeah, pretty much the only one screws you out of a party member which I did the first time when playing a Light character. When you get to Dantooine, try to not kill the rogue Jedi.

I killed an important character late in the game, who then went on to appear in the ending perfectly fine.
Outside of that missable party member who I also killed first time round, I wouldn't really worry about it.

Can you respec stats later on or can you fuck yourself that way?

You cannot but you're hardly gonna fuck yourself unless you're actively trying to, KotOR isn't a very complicated system.

Master speed + Master flurry will pretty much solo everything in the game.

Its fun going dual wield blasters, but Id only recommend it for subsequent play-throughs.

Yeah, the game is kinda counting on the whole "Jedi and lightsabers are cool" thing. This was before you could play as Jedi in 90 other games.

I don't think there will be subsequent playthroughs. I'm having fun, but it's feeling like a one and done for me.

1 doesn't have the Force Reflection feat or whatever to let you deflect without a saber, does it?

IIRC it doesn't, it's been a while since I've played the original. That got added in the sequel because of complaints that the original basically forces you into lightsabers.

Do the alien languages mean anything in the game? Even when aliens say their own names it isn't sounded out in their dialogue. I wouldn't be surprised if every Twi'lek just has the same dialogue repeated over different text.

you CAN screw yourself if not leveled right in the last part. But atleast you get your party to even shit out

in KOTOR 2. You can softlock if not careful. Luckily you auto heal out of battle. Barely beat the end cause of that.

I can't remember if it is the first or second game that has the stowaway speaking the alien language, but she permanently implanted "Moocha Shugapaga" in my brain lol

There was a bugged quest in KOTOR2 that wouldn't trigger the right dialogue to carry on.
Luckily I had an older save, but still had to redo 30 minutes of the game.

Oh, there actually is one now that I think of it.

TC, whenever you get ambushed, kill everyone before moving on. Explore the area and make sure, even if it seems like you shouldn't be able to kill these guys.

It is. Which is why I save before each game so if I lose, I just reload.

Is there a quick map button? I feel I need to bring it up a ton to find my way but getting to it in the menu is so cumbersome.

Man, I gotta play that again. I was actually a late-comer to the series and didnt play it until like 2009. Then for a while I played it (and the sequel) at least once a year. Its been a bit, but I just got the cart from Limited Run on Switch so I think its time to play it again.

It's the first casual friendly Bioware game. I beat it by mashing buttons like a Final Fantasy game. It's not like System Shock 2 where you can totally fuck yourself by building your character wrong.

Naa Shadaa can just decide to soft lock in 2 if you go fully lightside.

The game feels very slanted towards Parago- er, I mean Lightside.

I'm shaking down people left and right but because I'm not downright just murdering people on the open street because they wouldn't give me money I'm being heavily pushed blue.

You basically have to be a dick for the sake of being a dick to go dark side. Which I suppose isn't inconsistent at least with the prequels, but it's also not very interesting that the basis of sith government is "haha we're evil, let society crumble until the people are so fed up a rebellion will form and ultimately destroy us"

I did a light side play of both games
