I remember back in the early 2000s, this board used to be more libertarian/conservative (like most of the internet was back then). But at some point, liberals became more popular. At what point would you say that was?

I started noticing it around 2014. Its been bad the past two years or so. You dont get many differing views now.

GameFAQs has always been more liberal than conservative. There used to be more libertarians than liberals though.

It's kind of the same as always. The noticeable change is that blatantly racist conservative users who stood out either finally got banned(because enough racist moderators finally got the boot or left).

Around Jan 6th 2021. When gamefaqs banned the MAGA community board. I never visited that board but that moment seemed like a turning point in how conservatives were viewed on social media sites not just gamefaqs. I think Trump got banned from Twitter around then too.

Definitely in the past few years. You try speaking half the less radical ideas such as universal healthcare and gun control as recently as like 2018 or 2019 and you get flamed to hell and back.

After folks like DDP, Mal Fet, Reaganite, The Admiral, etc quit for good. There's still a few relics from that time like whatever the newest smal account is and bleuets but for the most part the "liberal" part of the board didn't really change much it's that there's less conservatrolls shitting up the place.

I've seen that guy post all over GameFAQs and he isn't reflective as a whole of GameFAQs mentality. He does have the ability to attract people to post in his topics, but its not usually in support of him.

GameFAQs has, to my memory, been liberal since at least 2008. I was conservative back then, and I was always the one of the few with a dissenting view. I'm now quite liberal but I distinctly remember how one sided debates would be.

I remember one of the first times I visited CE back in the early 2000s. There was a discussion on gay people, and one user was literally espousing the idea that LGBT should be forcibly experimeented on "to find out why they're so perverted" and to "hopefully cure future perverts." I have no idea who this user was but the messages never got moderated, and the more time I spent on CE the more I saw similar sentiments weren't terribly uncommon here.

I always remember this site being more liberal than conservative, tbqh. There's always been vocal conservatives, but the overarching undercurrent has always seemed more left-leaning to me.

It's not, look at the game and system boards. Y'know, where more people actually post. Conservative as Hell.

Where are you posting? Even in 2015 the game boards I posted to were quite liberal. I remember there was this one fella who was Christian and said he accepts gay marriage as a legal concept, but he could never accept them in his heart.

The Metal Gear Solid Phantom Pain boards was quick to call him a bigot. that topic wasn't even about gay marriages, and I'm not sure how we got to that point in the first place. Probably a "nobody asked" type subject, and the dude just volunteered his thoughts.

but anyways, my point is, most of my experiences on game boards have been quite liberal. It has been from the get go.

I actually remember a post done back in 2009/2010 where there was a discussion about legalizing weed on the Heavy Rain boards. That vast majority was in support of legalizing weed. That was a fun discussion.

I assume most were in their late 20s or early 30s when GameFAQs took off.

Now most are gone and now we have people in their late teens or early 20s.
