Board 8 > Has anyone dealt with PS5 stick drift?

Yeah, PS5 has this problem too apparently. Mine just started drifting after a year and a half, and the warranty was only for a year. I'm having a rough time finding info about it because fewer people even have a PS5 in the first place. So far I've tried messing with the settings and cleaning them with a qtip and ethanol, but nothing is working. The only other thing I can find is literally taking the entire thing apart and cleaning the sensors, which looks like it has a good chance of damaging the controller if done wrong. One of my controllers only has slight drift but the other is basically unusable, so I might as well try it, but I wanted to see if anyone found anything better before I attempt the nuclear option.

These things are fucking expensive too and I don't want to buy another one not even knowing if the issue's been fixed.

I had the same issue with my launch controller. I tried a bunch of the fixes that didn't involve opening it up because I'm not savvy enough for that, and nothing worked. I ended up just biting the bullet, sold it for $20 (Canadian) with the issue known, and then bought a brand new one. Gamestop had a deal so it wasn't as bad.

I was already looking for an excuse to swap to the black controllers to match my face plates anyway.

Yeah I do want a black or purple controller lol. I'm just hesitant to shell out again. Might have to if this doesn't work out.

My launch controller has pretty bad case of it on the right stick. Every other time I've experienced with a controller it it's been on the left stick but for some reason the right stick crapped out on this one and now it drifts down.

I had to send mine in for repair. It was under warranty so just had to pay for shipping which was still lame because it was like 17 bucks. I've had one of the starlight blue ones for about 4 months with no problems so hoping they've fixed the issue with the newer ones.

Yeah, I've been dealing with it recently. I've been wanting a second controller for a while now anyway, so I might just get one and save the other as a backup.
