Given the charges, it wouldn't surprise me if he's exaggerating the situation to emotionally manipulate his grandson into supporting him however possible. You don't commit crimes like this without having some rather unhealthy ideas about how to treat kids.

I'm not talking about how they react to the actual predator, so much as how they react to their family and former friends. I know what can happen - I've seen it close up, after one of my nearby neighbours when I was a teenager was arrested for statutory rape (female on male, she was in her 40s and the two boys involved were 15).
